I was thinking how some games make great use of morale. For example a little blue bar underneath the health bar of an enemy and if all his companions die, it would go down and he would be less effective in combat. Ofcourse bosses and/or very strong units like Alphas would be immune to morale. It would be something that fits into a game like dragon age I think.

I'll make an example to make my point clear: Let's say your party is faced with 5 enemies. A hurlock alpha and four genlocks. If you kill 2 or 3 genlocks the morale of the remaining genlocks would start do deplete, decreasing their combat effectiveness. Ofcourse the hurlock alpha is immune to this effect so his morale wouldn't deplete. (Maybe if you were faced with more enemies and with a second hurlock alpha and you would kill all of those, it could start draining. My point being that alphas have alot stronger morale)

Now let's say you targetted the hurlock alpha first and killed him. The remaining genlocks would be scared, because apparently you are strong enough to best their leader. This would result in a far greater blow to their morale that if you would kill the few genlocks. And maybe if everyone else is killed except for one genlock it could get to the point that he starts to flee.

I wouldn't implement this on companions though as that would be more annoying than adding to the gameplay. Anyway let me know what you think of it.
