LOL, I understand.
But it seems that the beginning of Dragon Age 2 will happen during Ferelden's blight, before Awakenings (thus, before Nathaniel was executed by some).

I believe they're talking about Nathaniel before he meets the warden in awakening, so no matter one's choices he could appear, I think.

So after how many days/weeks/months/years does DA:O take place?
If it isn't too much time after DA:O then Howe can at least be a companion in the Prologue then Hawke tells him the news about the Blight and everything and Nathaniel has to return to Ameranthine.

Excellent point, might be a cameo in the making.
Thanks, friend.
It's good to see that someone agrees.

It could be a fun encounter - although I'd be surprised if it was much more than a quick cameo.

It hasn't been announced yet. All we know is DA2 will take place through out a total of 10 years.
Some things that can be assumed is that it will actually be a while after DA:O ended. This is from the appearance of Hawke, shown so far, being of a mature adult. That shows that much time has passed, since he was a child at the time The Warden reached Lothering.

I think I read 10 years somewhere.

Nathaniel wasn't just in the Free Marches - he was (at least at one point in time) at Kirkwall. He says so himself very explicitly (I replayed that part yesterday just after the DA2 announcement, although I honestly can't remember during which conversation it occurs, sorry).

Yeah same as with Awekening when you see Wynne:'hello please do this quest for me, quest finished, K thx bye.
I would hate to see this happen Nathaniel, Sigrun and Anders where the only NEW interesting characters, Vellena and Justice where just annoying and Oghren was still funny.

On a sidenote... I thought Justice was an awesome character personally. Of course he's single-sided and repetitive: he's a spirit of Justice, damnit! But the dialogue with the lyrium ring and his feelings towards Kristoff's life and wife are interesting, as is what. He's also one of the few characters where you've got true closure, with very little chance of ever meeting him again.
And DA2 will presumably have a short playable sequence where you flee from Lothering to the Free Marches, so it begins at nearly the same time as DAO but ends much later.

BlackyBlack: I'm just repeating this one last time since everyone seems to miss it: DA2 starts before Awakening. Nathaniel nearly certainly hasn't left Kirkwall yet when Hawke arrives.
Thanks Utoryo I wanted too know when excactly DA2 started in the Dragon Age timeline.

I think it might be a bit far fetched to think Hawke will run into ONE rogue in all of the Free Marches.
I understand, but real life logic shouldn't be our concern here, afterall there are so many "virtually impossible" facts in Origins and Awakenings storylines.
Also, as Utoryo pointed out, Nathaniel "wasn't just in the Free Marches - he was (at least at one point in
time) at Kirkwall".
