Maybe it's just me.
Anyways, I kept Loghain and Alistair ran off.

I still can't really reconcile Loghain in the game and Loghain in the book. I've only read the first book, I dunno if he's in the second at all, but there seemed to be a huge disconnect in personality between them.
Maybe it's just me.
Anyways, I kept Loghain and Alistair ran off.
Haven't read the book, but what I can tell from the game, is that he's lost his rational self out of fear of the Orlesians.

I can't express how glad I was to be able to end his mad, selfish pursuits.

On the otherhand, you had Loghain, who is a military genuis and is willing to repent.
For me it was very easy. Help Loghain, screw Alistair. I was really happy that Bioware allowed us to redeem Loghain. Such a great man deserves a chance at redemption.

Then when Riordan had the talk about the sacrifice a little light in my head went on and I thought "Ah, this is why he wanted to recruit Loghain". I wonder if Alistair knew about the sacrifice? I wonder if he would have accepted Loghain if he had known...

im like dregor, i liked loghain alot in the first book, im reading the second and hes not really been in it yet...i wish they had done more with him in the game. his actions dont really seem to square with the character in the book. he wants to protect ferelden, and he fears the grey warden are orlisian proxies, but its a stretch to think he would essentially murder the king and plunge the country into civil war. still, great story, great characters, great game
Although his fears aren't too unfounded. A Warden may have taken the Throne and may have recieved noble land, something that caused something of a problem at Soldier's Peak as I recall

Basically, I made him King to teach him a lesson, and maybe keep him from whining all the time.

Then he yaks and yaks about how he doesn't want to be King... okay, so I talk to Anora and she agrees to marry and become King. At the Landsmeet I wipe the floor with Loghain and I decide to show him mercy since I reasoned Howe probably had a lot to do with his actions of late, when before the guy was a revered hero, and with good reason.
Suddenly Alistair wants to be king again so he can force the issue! I was very disappointed with him and when I told Loghain that he cost me Alistair, he said, "Yeah, well you're welcome"
Besides, it's much funner when Loghain says you're going to be his son-in-law and admits he has great respect for you.
A very very interesting character. I killed him a couple times to see different endings/outcomes but I can't bear to do it anymore, he is way cooler and more interesting than Alistair.
