Ok and where in that entire forum topic is there any Dev quotes, Dev confirmations or any article links that have any evidence that even suggests that Dragon Age 2 will be set 10 years after Origins?

It will not. DA2 spans ten years-- that's all we've said so far.

So people don't have the Game Informer mag and the devs just let them lie. :?

So we don't start off in Lothering during the blight?

This is something people can finally clear up. I'm a bit tired of having to explain that to people.

I mostly agree with ITSSEXYTIME: it cannot be a coincidence that Flemeth says, word for word, that 'names are pretty but useless'. However that doesn't have to mean it's just a name: According to Morrigan, Flemeth claims to have been possessed by *both* a spirit and a demon (or at least had direct dealings with both and the spirit first, whereas Chasind legends only mention the demon).

It is possible that every Flemeth is a distinct individual with her own human memory and personality, but that all of them share the same spirit and/or demon. There would not be a 'possession ritual' - the preparations Morrigan speaks of would simply be to allow the spirit/demon to possess her upon the previous Flemeth's dead. And therefore it is possible that Morrigan lied to us: she didn't want us to kill Flemeth in order to prevent the possession - she simply wanted to kill her to make it happen sooner, to become more powerful... She didn't want the Grimoire for protection - she wanted to know how best to attract the spirit/demon to her.

Morrigan says her body is to be Flemeth's 'next host' - but if Flemeth really refers to the spirit/demon and not the human Flemeth and her memories, then she barely lied if at all yet managed to confuse us all. An interesting twist on the 'Morrigan is Flemeth' theory to say the least.

EDIT: Oh, I see the thread title attracted David. Coincidence? I think not :D

Didn't Game Informer mention that the beginning of Dragon Age 2 takes place during Origins?

As it spans ten years, begins during Origins, and is told in past tense, it's a logical conclusion that 'present time' in DA2 is ten years from the fall of Lothering.

Bar any time skip early on that isn't included in the ten year span, I suppose.

The testimonials of random forumites are not what I would call evidence, it is quite easy that they could have misinterpreted the information or even based their evidence on wild speculation.

Who put that silly wig on Morrigan's head? haha nice :D

I think the developers have already thought long and hard about DA2 even when DAO was being made. So whatever flemeth said has to be true.

We will never see her again. We won't. Hawke will.

And all tha mystery build up with Morrigan.... They must have thought about it. They can't leave such a huge plot - I'm gonna give birth to a god-child - and then do nothing about it :)

Whilst I would prefer if Flemmeth had taken over the god-baby rather than Morrigan, I think its going to be more likely that Flemmeth has taken over Morrigan and is planning to use the god-baby when its grown up.

I killed Flemeth once already, but if she thinks she can take my child from me I'll kill her again and make sure she stays dead this time. GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

Unless you are Darkspawn food by then.

Ha! I'd stick my staff so far down their throats it'd come out their ass. Then I'd bring their corpses back to life to fight by my side. With my army I shall destroy Flemeth and take back my child. But afetr that I'd retire, get married, and live to a ripe old age of 30. (damn darkspawn taint):P

Morrigan could of lied about alot of things.Who knows you could side with Flemeth in Dragon age 2, to stop Morrigan and the god child, BOTH Morrigan and Flemeth wanted that god child for a reason ( Well Morrigan said thats why Flemeth saved you from the tower, But Morrigan could of lied. Maybe she wanted it for more power? ) ... hopefully in Dragon age 2 we will find out.

It's hard to imagine the godchild existing when people feed Alistair to the arch demon and screw Morrigan up... too bad there isn't a "throw knife at Morrigan's head" option... sorry, I am possibly the no.1 hater Morrigan in the world.

At least Tali's fan just asked for romance and they were happy...
They don't ask for all the stories to be canoned and all the players who don't mind anything about Morrigan to have all their stories ruined just because they have to see an ending to a part of their story.. and I repeat "their" story...
Now.. could you return me that helmet for a while? thanks !

Y'know, despite me really loving Morrigan and the whole BeardWarden X Morrigan romance, I was totally tempted to say No to the ritual just so as I could kill off Alistair. You do have a point, why should there be a godchild if you shut down that option immediately? Unless they come out and straight out canonise the Dark Ritual (IMO, they should but then Im totally biased) I think there will be some sort of workaround for all the possible endings. DA2 has been said to read the first games saves after all.

Also *sneak attack on Dark-Lauron*

Morrigan is Flemmeth.  Flemmeth is an idea, a concept, not a specific person.

Flemmeth herself even says that names don't matter much, think of Flemmeth as like a superhero: the same person isn't always going to be that superhero but it doesn't matter who it is when they use the name.

Good theory. That could be possible.

Introducing Morriflem.

Considering this game ends around 10 years after Origins, Morrigan hasn't aged at all well.  :(

(For the record I don't think that's Morrigan).
