I've had no problems with the game at all up until now.
My party reaches Lothering after leaving the Wilds, and is confronted by the bandits. I run through the dialog spiel and whip their butts, everything is fine up through there.
Until I get to the dialog AFTER the battle. It starts off fine, then the animation slowly begins to skip and jump. It gets steadily worse until it finally freezes up entirely. Audio continues, but otherwise it's completely stuck. Can't click, dialog options don't appear, no nothing. If I pull up Task Manager the game status is Not Responding.
I've tried running through it several times, including after a reboot, and it freezes at the exact same point every time. I start through the post-fight dialog and it almost immediately begins to slow and then lock up.

Seriously.... Anyone? I'm completely stuck and can't advance anywhere in the game as a result of this. Have tried dialing down graphics details but no change whatsoever.

I get the same problem, except a little later in the game. The first time the party selection screen shows up, in the tavern, the game freezes. Sound continues but the picture is frozen.

go into your Dragonage.ini file located in Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Settings
Look for:
[AudioOptions]
SoundDisabled=0
Change it to
[AudioOptions]
SoundDisabled=1
See if the same thing happens
be sure to change it back to 0 if you get past it

No good at all. I disabled sound and this time the game crashed immediately when it tried to load the cutscene that plays after leaving Flemeth's home (Loghraine's call to arms).
I actually did get it figured out on my own. I'm working on developing a mod and didn't realize it was running active. For some reason it disagreed with that particular section of dialog.
