yes but you dont yet know enough information to make an informed decision as to whether the game will succeed or fail, sure you can express your concern about the way the game seems to be heading but you cant just slam the game and say its going to fail at such an early stage (this isn't necessarily aimed at you in particular but those 'fans' who aren't giving nearly enough of a chance or time.)Anathemic wrote...

Each one of us prefers the game in what we want, call it selfish, we are all selfish, but we still have the right to express our opinion or an opinion on how another opinion doesn't agree with their opinion.
Just saying that we can't criticize due to the fact that BioWare is one in charge is just plain ignorance.
Is it the accent?

I'd suggest waiting to learn more before you make sweeping pronouncements, however. Slinking back into a room after you've made a dramatic exit and slammed the door behind you can be pretty awkward.

You'll be playing a human character whose gender, looks, class, skills and talents are up to you to decide.
Just as you'll still be able to decide what kind of a person he/she is going to be in terms of morality and character.

Again you.
My expectations are my preferences. So I'll slam features that go against my preferences and you'll keep getting hysterical about it. It's life.
Who's hysterical? I haven't seen a hysterical post by LPPrince all day, but maybe it's easier for you to dismiss her views if you just say, "Oh, you. Stop being hysterical."

You're confusing "right" with "priviledge." You have the privilidge to post on these boards because you registered your email address on the website--being a paying customer doesn't give you any rights per se in regard to these forums. Besides, no one is saying you *can't* criticize; the implication was that "slamming" Bioware for not writing the story you want them to write in the way you want it written is silly. There's a difference between expressing your opinion on a feature and "slamming" someone, you know.

Do you realize that coming into threads that are not even criticizing, but questioning and speculating about the choices made for DA2, and accusing everyone who expresses doubts or worries of being "whiners" and "haters" isn't exactly raising the level of discourse? I'd really rather people discuss the topic at hand than worry that it's going to be locked because some people are obsessed with castigating those with differing opinions.

Will it have a free world feel like BG series did ? Or will it be kinda one-line'ish like dragonage
it'd be nice to have a wizard's tower or a thieve's den or a castle and so on ^^ I just loved this in the past

As long as there's anyone, it's ok.
Sure, I'm still waiting, and I haven't slammed the door yet, as you say Gaider - I don't think I'll slam the door, cause drama or anything like that though. I'll just lose the insterest to discuss this game and look elswhere as soon as I find out that level scaling is going to be implemented in the same horrible way as it was in DAO.
See, at least you've made LPP happy, s/he been waiting for that pat on the back for so long, poor thing... "THANK YOU THANK YOU"

Wow, you are quick! Do you have a link to share? I only read about it in the magazine and it didn't mention anything about picking a gender or a class. Right on though, thanks for the info.

Good thing we are in the internet and nobody needs to be slinking into any rooms. Not to mention, nobody is going to remember anything posted here in a week, or even until release. And even doomsayers like me will at least keep an eye on the game. It is not like we RPG freaks have so many games to pick from.

Slam they as you like, but you would do well to remember to do it in a civil and polite manner, addressing the devs on their OWN forums in a decent manner or I or another mod will be forced to mediate, and/or take action.Paromlin wrote...

Accusations usually revolve around opinions.
Its not my opinion.
I'm indifferent. I loved Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Dragon Age Origins, but I'm not going to just shower DA2 in praise until I see, keyword "SEE" how its going to look and play.
Anyone that's up in arms from the little they've heard is overreacting something hardcore.

And yet, the characters to whom I feel most attached are not so much of my own creation. PS:T's Nameless One, and Mass Effect's FemShep. Despite their more pre-determined nature, I feel as though I REALLY played those roles. Am I such a crap role player? Or just good at playing a role given to me by someone else? (I'm an actor IRL, maybe that's it).
Sorry, everyone, that's just a really long-winded way of saying I'm optimistic, and trying to encourage everyone to have some faith ...xx

It's weird. I've played dozens (scores, now? Hundreds?? Argh, I'm old!) of RPGs, spent countless beautiful, wasteful hours rolling and re-rolling that perfect character who defines the the perfect role at that time. Complete (or almost complete) freedom in Baldurs Gate, Oblivion, Arcanum, DA:O to create characters I will remember until I go senile (possibly not too long, now).

Faith is something that's dying at the moment, for some people. If it makes you feel better, I'm still faithful, and so are many others that are waiting to see what's going to happen before ragging on the game and its creators.

It's based on stuff the devs have said here on the forums, not an interview or magazine link. But I'm 99% sure--and guys, correct me if I'm wrong--that they've said we get the choice of the three previous classes, and of gender.

Thoughts? Am I missing another development related reason for restricting race selection this time around, other than not wanting to create separate origins? I can see easy ways to place an elf or a dwarf in Lothering during the Blight...after all, we do meet Bodahn and Sandal there, and an elven family...so why not our character?
This is the story we wanted to tell, of this one particular human.
yes well, the problem being that unless a miracle happens you didn't do a particularly good job at ending the first story, and THAT is the major reason why so many people reacts with negative input.
