I thought that was a great ending, personally. It's something that doesn't need to be told; it can be left to the imagination.tbsking wrote...
Case in point, Morrigan runs off with my kid, I promise to follow. The game remains very ambiguous as to whether or not I find her, saying that "well, if you do, it isn't for years" and leaves her motivations and reasoning very vague. That's something that a lot of people considered to be the hook for a sequel.
Do Bioware listen to its fans?

but do you know what will happen in this game? this game is about a new character but it is set at the same time so there is no reason for there not to be cross overs, if i remember correctly morrigan is seen in the north is she not? which is a direction we are heading in this game, we just dont know what could happen.tbsking wrote...

Bottom line for me: The story of the Warden isn't finished. Every epilogue says as much. It seems that they were building up for something, something big and dramatic and epic. Yet, they chose instead to follow a different character. Even if our decisions affect this guy, it isn't the conclusion to our epic that is desperately needed.
Perhaps out of protest or out of preference, I will not be partaking in this game at this point in time.
maybe bioware aren't trying to make a series of games about your warden, maybe they're making a franchise out of dragon age and all the interesting and epic events that happen within it...and you may want your warden to be a playable character because you saved yours, but what about everyone who's warden sacrificed themselves?
i really why you cant see this not as a follow up to origins but a completely different game set in the same world.
I'm all for fleshing out the setting, I really am. For those that sacrificed their Wardens, those tales are complete, for them. I didn't I was left with a Warden and a number of ending all implying that there are continued adventures, all left with cliffhangers and hints and others that would lend themselves toward a sequel.
It feels like the story isn't complete. I know I'm not the only one of this opinion even on this forum.

That's something that a lot of people considered to be the hook for a sequel.
However, they announce that the latest instalment won't touch on those issues. Heck, even an Orlesian Warden gets a cliffhanger ending left ambiguous.
It feels like they were going for something big. It feels like they were preparing a sort of story arc revolving around the single character. But the sequel is revealed to have little to do with that tale and its left open until they decide to follow up, if ever they do.
i think the reason you're getting so many disagreements from other members is because you are doing something no real gamer ever should: discarding a game extremely early on with little information, so your opinions like everyone else's are in no way formed of absolute fact so to say this game wont be worth getting at this stage isn't logical.

I don't recall saying that this game isn't worth getting, and I'm only reacting to what information I do know. If more information is released, I will alter my reaction accordingly. As it stands, the changes and details that have thus far been announced are changes and details that I don't like. Things I did like in the first game are being altered to things I don't like.
I can see myself buying this game secondhand but as of right now, I'm disappointed in DA2.

That doesn't mean you're not going to see Morrigan at all in Dragon Age 2, however.tbsking wrote...
Morrigan is seen in the west, in all of her epilogues. That combined with the fact that an Orlesian Warden's epilogue states that there is rumor of another Blight in Orlais, plus the fact that a BioWare staff member, who's name escapes me, went on record as saying "I don't think we've seen the last of Morrigan" all led me to assume that a sequel would have you reprise the role of the Warden.

Because there isn't any importing, BioWare is free to do anything with the characters they've already written for.

It's certainly possible, but I don't think it would be a satisfactory ending to a dramatically charged plot line. It's kind of like they revved up this big plotline that was left vague enough to go in one of many directions, but then to meet her as a character other than the Warden is sort of a let down, considering that Hawke wouldn't have the same personal motivations as a returning Warden.
I'd be satisfied if they settled that plot with some sort of DLC, or an expansion. But as it stands, features that I liked about DAO are getting altered to be features that I don't like. I'm just disappointed at the announced changes.

A dead Warden wouldn't have the same personal motivations as a returning Warden, either.tbsking wrote...

The Ultimate Sacrifice was intended to be one of the good endings (despite what Awakening did to it) because the game's storyline is self-sufficient. The people of Thedas are saved either way.

Much like how despite the decisions, and ultimate resolution, made in KotOR, the second game starts off in a very crapsack state. I thought it was nearly a given that BioWare just simply would take some things as canon.
