Also note that some romances cannot start with some specific races (Viconia will never romance elves and half elves for example).

I doubt there are any viruses attached to a major site like that.

Don't be too certain about that. I've gotten viruses from the Apple site before while downloading RealPlayer.

You can get virus or misc downloads from any site.  Once, I even got a misc. download from the Mass Effect Wiki site, so you always have to be careful.  If you have no virus protection you can pick nasty stuff up from sites like this.

EDIT: Oh okay if we are talking about fileplanet you have to be really careful, some downloads there can have hidden virus. And you can get junk files from simply browsing, I wouldn't recommend using the site.  But thats my opinion.  In your case if you have virus protection and want to download I would do this.

1) Create a point restore for your OS if something goes horribly wrong
2) Download said file
3) Scrub it, then do a full system scan, if nothing is found you should be safe to run and install it.

-gulp-......I'd hate for my PC to get hit with a virus

how much memory does it eat up? I can never tell how much memory I have and how much a game takes

Okay, I stand corrected on the virus thing. That sounds pretty bad.

Cypher, it takes up 630MB. Without knowing how much memory your harddrive has it's impossible to tell if it would eat most of it up. Click on "My Computer". Then right-click on the drive labeled (C:). Select properties from the list that appears. That should tell you how much free space is left.

Wait never mind, what Seagloom said covers it.

If your concerned about viruses here is a free link to download. It's McAfee's site advisor toolbar, it will tell you what sites are more potentially harmful then others.

I use Symantec for all my anti-virus needs, but I found at least for the site advisor McAfee does a better job.

http://www.siteadvisor.com/

And this is what Symantec and McAfee say about Fileplanet. I note both entries are not entirely accurate, but are still useful.

http://safeweb.norto...=fileplanet.com

Although their reviews are not that detailed.

click on download site advisor software

The download is free and yo do not need an account to download. But while installing the product it might ask you to set up a account in order to run. Oh btw it only works with Firefox and Internet Explorer.

That thing is terrible. It doesn't allow me to install the much-needed  Infinity Animations mod.<_<

Avast is an OK AV, but the best ones are Avira Antivir and MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials), both are free. Anything by MacAfee or Norton are jokes. My advice is to stay away from both of them.

I had an incredible year with Panda. Loved it, no probs at all. Too bad you have to pay one liver for it.

Just a little correction here. She can actually be romanced with a half elf character. My last character was a half elf fighter/mage, and had no trouble romancing her (no mods or anything installed). Krhm.... carry on.

A good swordsman who is actually able to kill mages without any other character support is the Inquisitor paladin. That class is seriously overpowered, arguably the strongest tank class in the game.

In SoA, the strongest weapon of the game is also a Paladin only two handed sword... and if you Have ToB, you can get in SoA a very neat Paladin only Bastard sword (or long, I am not so sure).

The spell Imprisonment seems to have been invented just to make it possible for a mage to beat high-level fighters, unless you bombard them with a contingency containing 3 horrid wiltings.

When all your fighter character's saves get below 0 and one whirlwind attack downs a dragon, it starts getting ridiculous.

That's why we have Berserker fighters, to kill mages with Imprisonment.

But very few enemies have it. Elder orbs, Demi-liches... perhaps 2 mages on the whole game. This means 8 enemies.

Just summon everything you can and run the hell away!

Best contingency plan in Baldur's Gate.

I have my vote on 1h hammers, DWing Crom Faeyr and Rune Hammer :wub::wub:

Why did I forget BG1? Stupid me... had such short memeories on the forum too.
Sorry Cypher!
But yeah, summoning is a great idea to kill things in Baldur's Gate. Unlike BG2, in BG1 you have NO summoning limitation. Cast 60000 monsters if you can!

Give all your party members bows or missile weapons, and the game practically plays itself.
