i ate it!lol.we know that Duncan is dead as one get.But it is not out of possiblity that Duncan is possessed maybe? or he is prisoned in Fade?idk man, everything is possible since DA has no limitations
Possessed? Hm, that could be interesting. Captured by Darkspawn instead of killed, his weapons lost, he is taken away only to escape with the help of a fellow prisoner mage into the fade, where he somehow gets possessed by a fade spirit.... ahhah I don't know I'm just grasping at straws at this point, just throwing that out there.
It's a new companion - Possessed Duncan, fighting for control of his body (think JE's Wild Flower)

Duncan is dead, dead Duncan. The Duncan is dead ok.
Not if the game starts before Ostagar, which we don't know yet when it starts
It spans 10 years after the Blight or is that wrong ? If its after the Blight then he is dead. If its during then we may see him with the Origins character pass through Lothering.

Well, we know it starts during the events of DA:O, and we know it spans 10 years... but we don't know if it's 10 consecutive years, etc.. (the framed narrative format would allow the story to skip around in time) So while it starts in Lothering before it's destroyed at the beginning of DA:O, it could end during a part of the timeline more than 10 years in Thedas' future.
Unless the story begins in Lothering a significant time before the darkspawn invade, Duncan will have already met his fate at Ostagar regardless

We don't know yet if it's after the blight:

It will not. DA2 spans ten years-- that's all we've said so far._-Greywolf-_ wrote...
Ok
and where in that entire forum topic is there any Dev quotes, Dev
confirmations or any article links that have any evidence that even
suggests that Dragon Age 2 will be set 10 years after Origins?

BTW, am I the only one who thinks 'Al Mualin' every time I hear his voice? I half-expected him to say 'peace be upon you Altair' when he skewered Jory. And that BEARD.

Hmm... I can imagine that since the imperial highway converges at Lothering, leading to Ostagar, I can see a brief cameo by both Duncan and the Warden happening, when they are on their way to Ostagar after their respective origin story. That is, assuming that the ten year time-frame starts at around that time-frame. But about the Duncan-dead theory, I always imagined that Duncan's body got eaten by the darkspawn (I think Morrigan mentioned them eating the flesh of the fallen after you wake up). Either that, or he survived the battle somehow, but succumbed to the taint shortly after.
I have an observation to make here:
if Hawke is a Mage:
Possible Origin: Circle Tower or Apostate.
Reasons to be at Lothering:
1) Battle at Ostagar (circle tower)
2) Hiding from the Chantry (Apostate)
If Hawke is a Warrior/Rogue:
Possible Origin: Human Commoner (Noble, I doubt, since he is described as a 'Nobody')
Reasons to be at Lothering:
1) Lives at Lothering (doubtful)
2) Fought at Ostagar

And wasn't it stated that Hawke was from Lothering?

Or he could have traveled there with, or just be passing through with, his family as a refugee; many supposedly were. Perhaps he has little or no experience fighting yet? There has to be some reason he doesn't stay and fight, as I doubt he is a "coward." Maybe his top priority is simply to be protecting his family, who it is stated he flees Lothering with. So far that means just Bethany though, unless there are others we haven't been introduced to yet.

I always just imagined that Hawke grew up in Lothering (I keep imaging Male Hawke as that little boy on the bridge in Lothering for some reason, but then there's Lady Hawke to worry about)

Have you even been following DA2? Hawke was one of the few survivors of the attack on Lothering. Dammit, man, check your facts next time.

I think you might be misunderstanding me. I am talking about Ostagar because that's where Duncan died. The point I was making to Relshar is that if DA2 started before the battle at Ostagar, Hawke could have met Duncan in the game.

Additionally, just because Hawke survives Lothering, it doesn't mean the game doesn't start a few days before then (therefore also before Duncan died at Ostagar.) It'd be quite easy for them to show us some familiar characters passing through Lothering on their way to Ostagar.
