Consoles are stuck with DirectX 9 quality and there's no point to waste development time to create better graphics (and graphical feautres) for the PC version only. We're probably stuck with 2005 tech untill 2015 or something like that.

The few benefits that DX11 allow for aren't difficult to implement and could easily be disabled-- that's the nature of those features, otherwise games with DX11 features would only be compatible with the Windows 7 install base. Which isn't true, those features can just be disabled for those who haven't upgraded yet.
Anyway, the jury's still out, there's no official word on tech specs, but we can't say the inclusion of DX11 features(or lack thereof) is based off of console compatibility. Crysis 2, for example, will undoubtedly include such features on the PC version, even while the console versions don't.

And as far as consoles holding PC hardware back. Well that's partly true but then again if you look at some comparison vids/screenshots between DAO on consoles and PC you will see how much better the PC version looks so it's not like they don't improve the visuals at all.

Don't bother, you wouldn't get a good frame rate with it turned on. If you don't believe me, try running a UniEngine Heaven 2 benchmark.Noobius_Maximo wrote...

Oh, no, not at all. If you've been sticking with modern PC stuff, even just a little, you're likely far beyond a console's computing power.MKDAWUSS wrote...

Also, if you want to take advantage of DX11, then play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat. All of that DX11 goodness in a FPS/RPG bun.

Those Russians, though! Far ahead of like, every single other game on the PC right now.
Or at least games set in the Soviet Bloc countries... hah.

Consoles run Metro 2033. Not as great but they can still run it. Also STALKER is god tier.

Those companies are much more focused on graphics than story/characters because the FPS genre is much more focused on explosions-per-minute.SithLordExarKun wrote...
If crytek, dice and several other companies can develop DX11 for PC, i dont see why bioware can't.

Remember, many PC exclusives like The Old Republic have WORSE graphics than consoles because they want everyone with a gaming PC to be able to run it. We are held back by slow to upgrade PC gamers as much as we are consoles.

You can't call those older PCs 'gaming PCs' anymore if they can't even outperform a console.StingingVelvet wrote...

You should take a look at FFXIV or Two worlds 2 then... they aren't DX11, they're RPG's and they have incredible graphics.DeepGray wrote...

It wouldn't be DX11 exclusive, you realize? And Steam surveys already show considerable growth in both Win7 and DX11 adoption.Lord_Saulot wrote...
DirectX 11 would be a poor decision since it would narrow the potential PC consumer base quite a bit.
What does that have to do with anything? I never claimed RPGs can't look good.SithLordExarKun wrote...

FF14's an MMO so it doesn't count. And after the atrocious first Two Worlds, the jury's still out on the sequel.

If DA2 supports DX11 then that doesn't mean it is DX11 exclusive.

so you should have either nVidia Fermi 4xx ,5xx
Good for people who have got DirectX 11 Card like me
I have got a GTX 580 I think that's enough to Play Dragon Age 2 with Max Settings
I think Developers should made Dragon Age 2 DirectX 11 Exclusive and High End gaming PC demanding that's the only way to thrown away amateur gamers away.
Tomorrow is the DirecX 11 exclusive days so update your PCs pals.!!! once Microsoft release a new console and Sony also gets down to their console obviously no one can't stop the journey.
stupid Wii players don't want to play with us.
