I've always thought those two bandits you meet right outside of Lothering should have popped up in every Dragon Age story-- sort of witnesses to everything, like Rosencrantz & Guildenstern.
I think I killed them, though. Unless they come back as carasses.
We got better!
True I mean how would Hawke know you killed them he wasn't there. . . .
but he was. . . but he wasn't . . . . UUHHHH!!!

Leliana please, if this game starts in lothering we should be able to at the least see her, sten or best to best our warden..
It would then beg the question - does it begin before the Warden shows up and possibly invites one or both of them to help stop the Blight?

You see what became of them. It works with some, as Sten, but should be avoided with others. If Morrigan ended in love with the Warden I don´t want her as a possible romance (she should be in Orlais unless DLC changes that anyway), same for Leliana.thenemesis77 wrote...
whats the point in seeing any of the Warden's old party membets, you will just have to get to know them all over again and, hell I have done that, oh but it's Hawke story, the hero that was needed.
If they all appear and are significant it also seems to put the Warden as a supporting character in the global story rather than the lead. Same goes to Hawke if he doesn´t repeat in DA3. Will feels strange if when everything is said and done your worldshaping decissions were supporting someone else´s worldshaping choices.
It just feels so much as leaving Frodo after Rivendell. If other party memebers keep appearing with big roles can be jarring (unless you did the US).

- keep in mind that this is the fan in me talking
Alistair as king could be visiting the Free Marches and could meet Hawke. If somehow Hawke finds out that the Feeldan king loves his GW elven chancellor would be even better. Or that he's in love with his new princess-consort.
The non-king Alistair could pass through the Free Marches on his travels with his fellow GW. Maybe Hawke could use some advice in fighting the darkspawn, so why not take some from those that fought to stop the Blight? Of course, there has to be some mentioning about Alistair's loving relation with his GW companion.
I guess this could be applied to the other companions as well, both for friendship and love.
In the end, I would very much like a happy ending for the warden, especially considering that his/her story is pretty much ended and it's not like we can hope for another expansion where some things could be tied up.

I think you might recognize a few people, yes.
Meh, if they are going to be crap cameos like in ME2 then don't bother. No one wants to see Grimdark Lia..err I mean Leliana.
If you are going to do a completely new story, then just do a new story. I'd rather not be reminded of how disappointing it is on top of that.

If we bring any characters back, for cameos or otherwise, it'll be because we like them.

I do my best.

Seriously though, this whole idea of a brand new protagonist and story really isn't what I was looking forward to, seeing as how so much was left completely up in the air at the end of DAO. Having a bunch of reminders in the game that I was not actually playing the game I wanted to play would be immensly deflating.
