Hoi there, Nozy, my old fellow-in-disgust-with-ME2!Have you still stuck around in the ME2 forums? I got lured back here when I saw that DA2 had been announced.
Hehe, no, same with me. I don't really see much reason to spend time on the ME2 forum. Just came in here to see what the news was about DA2.
I think odds are the writing isn't going to be a total disaster in DA2 (in fact, I'm quite optimistic so far about it), so cheer up!
When Mac Walters gets announced as the new head writer, is the time to get worried.
Just imagine King Alistair's first meeting with Hawke : "Ah yes, the archdemon. We have discounted those rumors..."
Part of my wants to really have faith in Gaider and the DA team, but my faith in BW as a whole was quite shaken. Especially seeing the small tidbits of info released so far it just gives me a very deja vu feeling of "why go through all the effort in the first installment to see it completely invalidated in the second".
I really was looking forward to seeing more of my Warden and his companions and what new challenges they would face. I suppose actually continuing stories really is just that hard to do, or doing new characters every installment really is just that much easier, I dunno.
All I know is my anticpation of DA2 took a nose dive. Unless we hear some "OMG there is no way I can't get this game" kinda news I doubt DA2 will be on my buy list. Fool me once shame on you (ME2), fool me twice shame on me. No amount of "just trust us" talk is going to get me purchase another BW game unless they actually have something to offer this time.

I can just imagine those two traveling down a desert, and our warden stumbles upon them after hearing that... I hope we at least get to see the warden in Lothering--would be epic!
were not a warden, we are hawke.
also, yes i hope you can import your old save, and some of those deciscions shape the "world" that you play in as hawke. seeing my party in lothering would be awesome.

truth. although i was okay with me2,actually it was a little dissapointing here and there meh. me isnt as close to my heart as DA is. i just really, REALLY hope they dont make this a masseffect 2 with swords type deal. i absolutely hate when games do that. i liked both games for their SEPERATE and very DIFFERENT play styles. i dont want them meshing together into one gameply style.

Well said Nozy, I was looking forward to the same thing, and your comments mirror my (and many other's) sentiments of displeasure of where we hoped DA would go.
Anyway, having witnessed much of the opposition's commentary against your (and many other's) view of the direction of DA2, I'd like to invite you over to http://social.biowar...index/1798678/1 for a little like-minded discussion if you're so inclined.

I've always thought those two bandits you meet right outside of Lothering should have popped up in every Dragon Age story-- sort of witnesses to everything, like Rosencrantz & Guildenstern.
I think I killed them, though. Unless they come back as carasses.
Well, in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern there is some indication that they are in fact dead from the beginning and the entire thing is playing in their heads as they die. In that case perhaps the entire series is a death bed hallucination from the perspective of these bandits as you lop their heads off in the first two hours of the game.

I think you might recognize a few people, yes.
I'm hoping for Oghren (i think that's how you spell it..), to come back in some way. He always brought a sense of good humor in the game, which made me laugh a few times lol.

Naw naw, but for serious, I want the funniest cameos ever. This thread might be the best part of this whole section, I howled the whole read. It'd be neat to hear of things in Ferelden (key being hear) and maybe see a few things but I'd really like to keep this game individual....... mostly. Oghren would indeed be hilarious, or the bandits. Or sandal. The warden complicates matters. I'm torn between wanting there to be a dark wolf turf war going around or rumors of the Hero of Ferelden being a blood mage. Yowza, conspiracy >:3

Morrigan could return with god child and ask for Hawke's help to defeat Flemeth because she returned and wants to use the child for some evil ritual or use his body as she wanted with Morrigan.

And afterwards was so idiotic to make a deal with the Overlord of Darkspawn..
Get him, Hawke! No mercy!

Other than that, I would live to see the bandits (seriously, that guy's accent when he says "I'll let you go back to your darkspawn fighting, king killing ways" cracks me up every time) and some kind of glimpse of the Warden going by with his/her party would be cool

so everything we did in origins means absolutly nothing in the new game? or will there be at least soem refrence to what we did as wardens?
There will be references at least, and probably effects of what you did. We are importing the save game - but it could be like Awakening, with text and a one-minute cameo by the ruler of Ferelden.

If we bring any characters back, for cameos or otherwise, it'll be because we like them.
Really. So does that mean you'll actually invest the effort to make their appearance proper? Instead of cramming them into a badly written short scene and completely changing their character without any explanation? Because if you like the characters, certainly there's no need to change them in the first place?

If they where going to make us play as Hawke ... it would of been nice to get ( ENDING ) in the epilogue instead of people looking forward to playing as there warden in DA2. I bought Awakening to get some kind of ending but all I got was "The Commander of the grey vanishes nobody know why but many think his tale is not finished" or something like that anyway...
Uh now im just hoping for a Morrigan DLC or expansion ... more excited about that than DA2 to tell the truth.

*Hawke has recently purchased some cookies with the money he has been saving for a week and is prepared to eat them on another glorious day in Lothering. But first he must retrieve a water container from his pack*
*Noticing the cookies sitting next to the young man Sten walks by and seizes the delicious bounty and continues on his way.*

I haven't seen the article myself, but others who have read it said that they flat out mention Flemeth's introduction in a cutscene.
