Personally I thought Dragon age was pretty mediocre at best. The Dark Spawn made little to no sense what so ever, they're evil and they do evil for evil's sake, with no rhythm or reason, they are just Evil. So I have to become a super hero and go kill them, Whoopty ****ing do.

You can say the same thing about the Reapers.

I think, personally, that Dragon Age is a better game than either of the Mass Effects. Better combat, better characters better writing, better at being an RPG. However, I think the Mass Effect universe has more potential in it than Dragon Age.

ME... I like the background better, though I like both IPs so far.

Of all games I played I never felt so connected to any main character as to Shepard. The immersion is great. My warden on the other side was just another avatar. I had no connection to him at all.

DA:O has better companions than ME 1 though, still ME 2's are as good and ME 2 is my favorite game so far.

DA:O was a good game, but I too often had the feeling of "what ever".

Mass Effect for the action and story, Dragon Age for the content.

I was more attached to my characters in Dragon Age, in Mass Effect, I have hardly taken the time to get to know them all.

I also liked my own replies in Dragon Age better, in spite of not being voice, or perhaps just because of it. Replies in Mass Effect 2 were too often things I did not intend to say. (e.g. "How is the crew" =/= "Is there anything I need to know?" -- this is only a small one, but it's the only one I know by heart)

As for gameplay, you can't compare the two, though the customization of your characters in Dragon Age deserves an applause. The customization of your characters in Mass Effect 1 deserves a boo, while in Mass Effect 2, your characters are just fine if you leave them be, so little customization was needed there, which is actually a good thing.

Overall though, I'm more of a sci-fi fan, and because I'm currently playing Mass Effect 2, I'll have to go with that one for now.

Mass Effect, Dragon Age's combat was just horribly unpolished.

Please explain this nonsense.

Not really the Reapers actually have a reason for what they are doing and why they are doing it, Why does the drakspawn wanna kill everyone?  Cuase they are evil thats their only reason.

Better writing? you mean the plot that was just a stripped down version of Mass Effect's? yea great writing there.
Better at being an RPG? So I guess the more generic and rehashed you get, that makes you a better RPG.
and where was this better combat? I been playing that MMO style combat for ages now, and it's not getting any better.

Reasons that you don't know about at all. Darkspawn have no reason either, but I think Steven King can sum it up best. Fear is in the unknown.

The problem with dialogue/choices in ME is that you are constrained to Paragon or Renegade and your answers are often just going to reflect which coercion skill you are trying to beef up. Or which type of character you are building. Otheriwse you are punished by the game and you won't have enough Paragon or Renegade points to get certain things done. I like the real life feel of choices that are in the grey area, like in DAO.

It makes it difficult to actually RP the game in a way other than "good" or "evil."

Uh actually no, the Reapers actually explain them selves, maybe you missed that. They need to reproduce and to aquire new genetic divercity. Also the Reapers believe they are the highest form any organic could obtain. They think of them sevles as doing a service to organics in some way. There is no such thing as Evil or being evil for evil reasons, Evil is all perception The Reapers believe they are right and that conflicts with the intrests of organics. The Dark Spawn are Evil and Mean cause the Developer says so and gives no idea to the reason why.

I never could get into Dragon Age. The non-speaking player character is jarring for me. I guess Mass Effect has spoiled me with Shepard's actual presence and voice acting in the cutscenes. I probably would have been much more engaged if the player character interacted with the NPCs the same way Shepard does.

As far as I know, that is only speculation. If this was confirmed anywhere, please provide a link or reference.

I know it is heavily implied, but I see no good reason why they would need organic material at all, let alone the complex structure of DNA, if that even survives the "melting" (but if it doesn't, then why bother taking out something that can fight back while you could just harvest plants or animals?)

So yeah, I'm holding off on believing until I absolutely have to. And having written this, I somehow feel another disappointing ending coming. I'm hoping Bioware will surprise me though, unlike Philip Pullman and some other story writers whose names I do not know.

It's more like you're homophobic and narrow-minded, but that's just my opinion of course.

Swords are terribly more manly than guns. Then again, Steve Hughes argued that gays are more manly than straight men, so perhaps you are right afterall.

Gays haven't done a single thing for society. Many women have done many things for society before they were granted "Rights". Many blacks did great things before they were granted "Rights". Gay's are just useless.

You obviously have never been in a fire fight to make that claim. You haven't been in neither a fire fight nor a sword fight. I've been in a fire fight so I can make a statement, your making yours from pure ghey Dragon Age.

Now stfu, and gtfo.

Mass Effect. The movie-feeling is much better in it. Also, the non-voiced main character is the biggest mistake that they did in Dragon Age; c'mon, even useless characters have voice!

I like Mass Effect because it has a great story, really interesting characters, great combat system, awesome looking powers, and it's unique. Also, the main villain is a giant robotic cuttle fish, yet they are still so bad ass. Which is just epic.

I like to think of myself as a pure RPG person rather than an action RPG person, but I've actually found I've spent more hours with ME2 than DAO. I think it is because despite the DAO goal of tactical combat, many of the battles feel repetitive. I definitely would like to see more role playing options/skills in ME3 and a more coherent story (ME1 story > DAO story > ME2 story).

Mass Effect. It's just so much more cinematic than DA. And making your own Shepard and having him carry over btwn games is just plain cool. Though DA2 looks like it's trying to take the throne. Maybe.

I love both games a lot, and they both have amazing lore. Mass Effect has the advantage of two games over one, however so I'd have to go with Mass Effect at the moment.
