So I am about to start my first play through in DA:O. I have played a few of the origins up until the first village after you are rescued from the Wilds. (Lothering?)

I want to play with a Human Noble as my tank (massive armor looks the best in this game... medium/light armor seems .. Meh). I like the Dwarf Noble origin story and I have one as a Rogue.. but.. it just seems most of the better looking armor is heavier armor meant for warriors. Bummer. 

So I want to play as a tank but I want to keep Alistair in my party as well.

Is it possible to have both of them as tanks? Can I build Alistair as a 2H or DW DPS warrior even though he comes with a few S&S skills? I want to use him in my party for my first play through.

The respec mod will let you do that. Or you can keep Alistair as S&S and still make him a decent DPSer. Put most points in str except eventually dex 26 for Shield Mastery and forget about the second tree of S&S talents.

Two tanks works fine, you can switch him around as much as you want. You will get more skill points then you can use for one weapon tree anyways.



Alistiar due to his naturaly high dex makes a good dagger duel wield warrior.

You can just give Alistair all strength + required dex for the s/s talents. A pure strength s/s warrior can actually do reasonably competent damage.

I had sort of the same setup, but with an Arcane Warrior tank. Alistair is great for keeping up the aggro, which Arcane Warrior's can't do, but would be the best tanks if they could. I was trying to see if I could do that with two SnS warriors--have my warrior use a buckler while Alistair used a heater. The set up failed--it was very boring doing the same moves and not getting much benefits. Anyways, you should try a two hander they are l33t.



One more thing, if you know how to do the duplicate glitch, (if you have the console version) you can redup a bunch of tomes--give them to Alistair to spend on only two handed talents until you have an equal amount of two handed talents to shield talents.

26 Dex, All other points Str is pure magic on a sword and shield warrior. Probably my most enjoyed build for a warrior ive ever played.
