The gameinformer article mentions that they were going to improve the graphics. I imagine it will use the Mass Effect engine, as it seems to lend itself well for a more cinematic experience.

They're using the same engine as DAO, just pumping it up and changing the visual style...

You don't think it would be absolutely strange for a dev team to completely swap Game engines in a series...?

Considering they are essentially rebooting the franchise with the sequel, not really...

Speaking of reboots, a certain EA game is going to use two different engines for SP and MP.
But UE3 doesn't seem like a good choice for a game such as DA2.

didnt ME use a leased game engine compared to DAO's in-house engine?

I am a bit disappointed in DAO with respect to how limited the adventure zone sizes are and I am wondering how well it will handle the increased animations and player response without further limiting the area of play. I can see them wanting to get more out of all that cost associated with making an engine from scratch, but it really is rather mediocre. It does play better these days over release state but will they be able to jazz it up that much and keep performance?

If you have the hardware to run it.  Lots of games coming out next year that will leave older computers in the dust.  Be prepared to shell out money to keep up.
