I'd love to see a female qunari, maybe a priestess-type come to the Free Marches to spread knowledge of the Qun without a conquering army and cannons. Well, 1 canon would be okay.

An Anderfels warrior who is slightly off, reminiscent of Minsc, but without the giant miniature space hamster. Instead, he would have conversations with his pet weasel that only he could see because he's bat s*** crazy, and smells funny.

A young human (male or female) who follows Hawke after Hawke rescues him/her from the complete destruction of the family homestead. His/her personality becomes more gritty and dark, or plucky and positive depending on the choices Hawke makes throughout his quest.

A love interest who pursues the PC and initiates conversation. In DA:O, when Alistair gave me the rose, I had know idea he was a love interest and thought it was just the niftiest thing.

I don't like saying too much about character, but I think there are a lot of things DA:O didn't have

A character who starts off hating you rather than being neutral

A criminal type who is later revealed to have betrayed you

An actual nun, rather than that Leliana girl

A bounty hunter

A stripper (just for giggles)

A female warrior who doesn't die after a hour playtime. (better not give us a female warrior now who dies after 2 hours BW, that's not funny)

I'm assuming there isn't time but here goes:

1. female elf warrior raised by humans. Try to get away from the stereotypical elven mage and it might be interesting for her to interact with other elves from the perspective of an elf. Also, she could have an interesting question og "just who am I?"

2. dwarven champion/paladin: basically the anti-Oghren (and I liked him after Awakenings). A dwarf born castleless but travels the world as a shining example of what any dwarf can be: strong, noble, brave, and a defender of righteous causes. He is a reformer who hopes his example will show that the caste system is a baseless one that robs each dwarf of freedom from casteless to king.

3. A runaway Templar who disappeared years ago to raise his illegit daughter when he discovered she was born able to use magic. Even today, he is torn between his duty and his love.

4. A tranquil mage who is starting to remember the ability to feel.... and she's very, very angry.

How about a human raised by elves? Now THAT would give an interesting perspective on life.
Also love the number 4 one--like a character who has dealt with so much that even her lack of feelings has developed feelings

How about an elf blooded human? From what I've read of the dev posts about the culture, it sounds like they'd have an interesting backstory.

Along those lines, I'd be interested in a half dwarf companion too.  Hopefully one with hilarious parents (Human mother with dwarf husband? lol).

I'd like to see the following:

A warrior that has lost everything, doesn't care anymore and is dark and gloomy

A rogue that is truly sinister, one that is with you soley because it's beneficial to him/her at the moment (Artemis Entreri type attitude)

A crazy mage that is a big off his/her rocker

  • A real nutter. Someone bizarre. The kind of person who would recover from being incapacitated in combat whilst saying, 'Nap time's over,' or, 'I died but I got better.' Maybe a naïve schizophrenic with a fugue disorder. That kind of thing.
  • A female elven warrior. Mostly because it hasn't happened yet.
  • A female qunari. Because I have trouble imagining it.
  • A Chasind or an Avvar. Because despite apparently being very important cultures in Ferelden, they've been remarkably absent thus far.
  • A Grey Warden. Because I'd like to really see, first-hand, how they function under the lead of someone who isn't a Warden, when a Blight isn't occurring or imminent.
  • A lyrium-addled dwarf. Because.

I think the companions you come across shouldnt be so willy-nilly "lets join up with you for the hell of it".. something deep should keep you and the other companion together, and the new people you bring along should actually react to these companions already in your part before they decide to join.. there should be personality issues and such, taking things from a basic level and getting to more realistic responses from your party.. i.e. Allistair wasnt such a follower and decided that he was going to walk away from everything since things got hectic.. we could potentially miss him as a character and have to go on without, depending on what we choose to do..

Another thing to keep in mind is if the game spans 10 years what are the chances they're all (if any) are going to stick with you that long?  I think it'd be interesting to see relationship dynamics (not just buying them off with trinkets) be more of a factor.  Perhaps your Hawke's choices inspire loyatly to keep some of them around the entire time.  Or maybe he's more of a "revolving door" when it comes to people.  Might a companion simply drift away after a time only to rejoin in X years time - or instead, because of your Hawke's choices, become a nemesis to be faced down the next time they meet?

I would like to see a nod to the first game. Perhaps one of Cailans guards who was secretly a Loghain informer only to witness his betrayal at Ostagar. Survived the battle and fled north but blames himself for Loghains withdrawl.

I'm thinking for another pirate character. This character would have witness war from different lands. They would actually be one of the first companions on Hawke's journey as he escapes Ferelden. This would be a character for quick skill and ability to the obvious class would be Rogue. They should either start off as assian or Duelist or even if Bioware wanted to give it a new sub class. I think it would be cool because bioware could use this characters ship to sail around the new islands. This would also be good because it would a great place to always find and meet your companions at. I think for anything a pirate would be the most useful companion to have. Any thoughts?

Well these were a couple ideas I had from another thread I posted in. Check them out and see what you think. :)

kuroshimodo wrote...

Female Templar who had a sibling in
the Circle and joined the Templars in order to be close to them and
protect them like any good older sister yet events arise and time has
passed, she heard that her sibling had left the tower and should be
treated as a possible maleficar. Since the maleficar is related to her,
she has been granted the task to hunt down her sibling and kill them on
sight. Naturally, she is conflicted about killing her sibling but also
is conflicted about doing her duty and the lyrium addiction doesn't help
her situation.

Female Antivian Crow who has received her first
assignment. Young and giddy, she plows forward on her mission with
excitement moving her with every step. She is thankful for the Antivian
Crows for if it wasn't for them then she would no doubt spending her
days in a brothel having to give pleasure in order to survive till
tomorrow. She makes her way to her target without realizing that she is
completely off the track of where her target should be.

Male/Female
Werewolf who so happens to be inhabited by a fade spirit which allows
them to fight against their savage nature. The spirit wishes to see the
world of mortals and the werewolf wants experience the sensation of
adventuring. Together the werewolf and fade spirit make their way
through the land enjoying the wonders that can be had.

Male
Outsider Dwarf who so happens to be a pirate captain or at least he was
until his first mate mutiny against him. Those who were loyal to him
managed to fight off the conspirators and buy time for him to escape.
The high seas are his home and grave but he is determine to make the
high seas he loves so much in to his first mate's hell on earth. When he
managed to get ashore after a month on the seas alone, he vowed to
assemble a new crew to avenge his fellow friends and comrades who were
killed by his first mate.

Female Blood Mage who formed a pact
with a desire demon for power. She enjoys seeing the weak kneel and cry
at her feet begging for mercy and smiles when they scream out in agony
as they feel their bodies dissolve in the clutch of the blood mage's
power. Her power is so grand that even the Fade rejects her or at least
the good spirits within the Fade. If the need arises, she will join a
cause only if it is beneficial to her. She may act innocent and a kind
hearted person but really her heart is frozen and void of any emotions
that may get in her way. Unknown to the Desire demon inhabiting her,
this blood mage wishes to become powerful enough to overthrow the Maker
and rule from his throne while he can only sit back and cater to her
every whim. She doesn't sleep so she appears to be insomniac.

A
Male Orlesian Chevalier that wishes to have a worthy adversary or rival
to duel one day to prove who is the best. He doesn't like to be coup up
in the castle all day protecting the empress from unknown trouble
instead he likes to go about town looking for those who might be worthy
to duel him and also help someone in need especially if that someone so
happens to be a lady. If trouble does arise, he is usually the first
person who volunteers to solve the situation. He wishes not to use
violence but he does understand that there is a place and time where
words of persuasion can't douse a fire that has already been lit. He is
quick tempered and doesn't have a problem telling you when you happen to
be wrong.

A Male/Female Noble that left their family and royal
status to become a protector of the good and innocent which in turn
transformed them into a vigilante. The human noble didn't enjoy the
upbringing of royalty and naturally became troublesome for her family.
She would always sneak away from her family's home to join up with the
peasantry outside the world of royalty. There he/she would use her
father's combat training to use by beating up wrongdoers with the might
of justice. Eventually the guards would find him/her and take him/her
back to his/her family. Years later he/she left his/her family after
hearing plans to wed him/her in to a family of tyrants. Not wanting such
a future, he/she left their family to pursue a life of fighting evil
and bring justice upon the blacken heart that is called evil.

So
yeah. . . those are some characters that I can think of. I am sure a
couple of them sound like romance options but at the moment I am
undecided about who. I also agree with having a female qunari companion
so we can see the qunari society from a different viewpoint. I was
impressed with Bioware's take on werewolves so if they decide to throw
in vampires then I am interested to see how they will portray them as.
Since I am undecided of which of my characters sound like a reasonable
romance option, I guess I will leave it to you guys. lol I am also sure
if this thread keeps going that I will come up with other ideas for
characters.

I really want to see Darth Vader and Voltron as new companions, but unfortunately its impossible:(
So let me think of some less favorite types...

- someone insane
Concentration of randomness and unexpected decisions. True paragon of chaotic neutrality. Someone like Joker but not homicidal or ,at least ,like that gnome bard from NWN2. He likes everyone who thinks like him - he will approve your really insane or stupid  behavior, but will be pissed by reasonable thoughts and decisions (considers that type of things boring).

- someone from another world
Not just some creature from Fade, but absolutely otherworldy entity - a person from parallel universe, or even some kind of creature from a world with drastically different laws of nature.

- an artifact
Some kind of sentient set of armor (lets call him Bob). Bob will become smarter as you collect pieces of him, thous opening more dialog options (or making it more intelligible). For example if you have only 1 or 2 parts of Bob, the only thing you can get from him is "Me iz Bob, Yu iz mah masta, Bob wil serve da new masta, Bob iz good". But if you collect full set of Bob, then you can talk with him about orlesean poetry and Antivan fine arts.
