I found it pretty hard to accept Miranda as an authority figure initially, I just don't think the Australian accent lends itself well to those roles. Only believable Australian drama I've seen is Underbelly, writing probably has a factor in this as well. There's one Miranda line that is just horrible, it's when you go talk to her on the Normandy and she says "Commander, What can I do for you?" I dunno if she just acted that one poorly or if it's the accent drawing out "oo" sounds but it sounds wierd.

I wonder how the Dingo thing became famous, for lack of a better word. It's been in a bunch of TV shows but it's not exactly funny that a Dingo ate a kid, i'm not offended by it being used for humour, I just don't get it O_o Perhaps it was one of only a few Australian news stories to make it overseas or something.

It's also funny when people think of Australians as living in a harsh environment when so few actually do. The majority are clustered into cities on the coast and as said above speak with an accent closer to English than Bogan.

Mhm, this is a state where a politician can call a canditate for gov a "f)))ing raghead" and only have to apologize for saying the "F)))ing" part. Shall I go on about the the fact that we are either 49th or 50th in most rankings of the states?
