Waste of a numbered game in the series, if you ask me.
Should have called it Dragon Age: Adventure.

(of course as long as that field isn't removed in the sequel. But it'd be petty thing to waste dev time on)

Tbh since it's possible to change character's race by altering the save file, i'd expect dwarf and/or elf "Hawkes" to appear pretty promptly... well, at least dwarf/elf from visual standpoint.
If we can actively change Hawke's appearance (slightly) as he ages, this would cause crashes, methinks.

i've come to terms with the myriad changes to come, but this one hurts. dwarven culture was the coolest part of DAO to me, and i'm going to miss having it be a part of my character.

Indeed, the dwarven culture was my favourite part of DA:O as well.

Nope, they are chucking fantasy RPG out the window with Dragon Effect. It's going to be like a ME in medieval regalia more than likely.
Tell me, have you played DAA?

Wow, you are obsessed about a single game to the point of actual anger when something that doesn't fit into your notions of what that game should be. Start looking perpendicularly, if DA isn't going in the direction you want it to, but stop ****ing.

I want a role-playing game not Mass Effect...duh. I think that's been made clear enough. What did you think all the rioting on these forums was about?
LSD in the water supply. M'aiq ****s you not.

Nope, neither can you be an elf. Neither can you be a commoner or royalty, or choose their general origin at all.
Actually, I'd say Hawke fits the bill for "Human commoner".
