Sounds like Guild Wars is for you.
I doubt it. Co-op is better with a story.

Wow, so many dicks in here who act as if multiplayer is a nasty word. I think some people have been seriously burned by mmo's and don't seem to know about Co-op.
QTF.
Really, It's not like Co-op play is the Moon-on-a-stick. And as I recall... Bioware put one of those in NWN with the last patch. But to cut to the heart of the matter, Bioware has all the makings of a true sucessor to NWN with DA, but their not taking that extra step from "a great game" to "A great game you can enjoy with friends."
The difference between an MMO, and Co-op is essentially the difference between trying to meet your signifigant-other at the superbowl, and trying to meet your signifigant-other by getting together with the friend of a friend for dinner and a movie.
There is a good bit more work involved in making in Co-op, or Multiplayer, But speaking realistically, that would be a boon for the games lifetime. Honestly, I'm rather concerned that bioware is getting closer to the EA policy of: "Slap this years number on the sports game, update the roster... Oh and put in any engine changes you want to and can make in the next 72 hours, and ship it as this years must-have sport's title."
OK, so its bioware, they get 2 years instead of yearly updates, but still. I'm not slamming bioware, but I trust EA as much as I trust the Illusive Man, and seeing bioware putting out sequel's this fast makes me nervous. Understandably so, I would think.
I disagree that its a matter of bravery, but I'll be blunt and say I'm really waiting for bioware to step up and fill the niche they pioneered eight years ago.
So far, no one else has managed to fill it.

It be a special developer to take on the task of making a choice driven game co-op friendly. It be pretty awesome if two players could take part in the conversation. Imagine one player trying to persuade the companion Npc's to kill the bandits, while the other tries to get the npc's to leave them alone. At the end of the game you could even have one guy deciding to fall to evil and the other guy staying good, then duking it out. The potential is there, it's just Bioware aren't that great with dramatic changes and prefer to stick to what they know.
Go try Army of Two: The 40th Day, it has some conflicts that both players can agree or disagree with.

MMO's aren't RPG's. They're coop allright, but not RPG.stylepoints wrote...
I'm pretty sure this is just a troll. Anyone who uses the term disappoint and thinks mmo's aren't coop is too good to be true.
Wait for Star Wars :The Old Republic to be released spring next year for the first MMORPG to actually deserve that RPG coming after that MMO.
It's a Bioware game, so I guess they don't mind some advertising too much:
-Multiplayer conversation system with NPC's
-Decisions that matter (kill the captain or don't kill him to personalize your story AND character)
-8 classes (4 on each of the two factions, no cross-faction classes), each with it's own 200 hour class story arc. This basically means you get 8 RPG's within one game!
-Each of those 8 classes has 2 "Advanced classes", Advanced classes have their own unique 2 skill trees, while the Baseclass has an additional 1 skill tree (so each Advanced class has access to 3 trees!)
-Solo, group and raid content alike
-Optional PvP (if you don't want to PvP, you can stay out of it *entirely*)
-Dozens of planets to explore
-Lots of races to choose from (both cross-faction and faction-bound races, possibly also class-bound races)
-Customizations
-Player ships (for as far as we know at this point of time, they're ME-like)
And we haven't even seen a quarter of all the features.

I can't remember Blizzard having ever made any RPG's. They made a few adventure games, RTS's and some Hack 'n Slash games.RunCDFirst wrote...

Then they ported this Hack 'n Slash game into their RTS setting, added in some missions, and increased the multiplayer features, called it WoW, and claimed it was an MMORPG. It's an MMO alright. But definitely not an RPG. MMOHnS would be a better way to put it.

I am guessing you are a veteran of NWNs and feel the void unfilled still..as do I.

I would also like to add that there's more of an incentive for players to create custom content knowing that you have some buddies in mind to share it with.

I'm really hoping a fews years down the line, the features they developped for TOR will eventually make it into a coop-enabled title set in the DAverse...

I have, it's boring and and can be played while, having dinner, alt tabbing to troll forums and changing music all at the same time.
