We hardly know anything about this game. Why is everyone freaking out? Sure, we have a "pre-defined character," but I don't see how this is such a huge change. Weren't the different origin stories like "pre-defined characters?" And how does the little bit that we know tell us that this game is going to suck, be an action rpg, and/or be just like Mass Effect? Why do so many people just instantly decide the game is going to be a failure before we really know anything about it.
I was a little disappointed when I learned you were forced to be a human in this game, but I also feel this could help the game as the writers can concentrate on one point of view, instead of needing to think about how a dwarf would see things or be treated differently than an elf.
I understand why people are somewhat upset. I don't get why people are already writing this game off as a money grabbing, sell out, action rpg.
Why all the hate?

The other 77 threads on this topic didn't appeal to you?

Well, I guess I could have looked a little bit more, but scanning the forums I seem to see a lot more hate than common sense.

People love to overreact over the slightest thing and proclaim doom. This is the internet after all.
Personally, I stand by the fact that everyone should shut up and wait until they hear more than the five announcement bullet-points of information before they attempt to judge the game.

Now I am repeating myself (and many others), but I couldn't agree with you more.

Right now we have tons of threads where people are basically repeating the same thing over and over again. Because the number of threads per page on this board is so low (it's about 50% fewer then most message boards) they are cycling off the front page in a matter of minutes. So new threads pop up and it all gets rehashed again. I'm actually surprised the devs are bothering to post at all - a lot of DA fans I know are actually rolling their eyes at all of this (not that some of what little we've been told isn't concerning, just that we don't know enough to know if those concerns are legit or not) and staying away.
Hopefully things will calm down in a few more days or as the Game Informer article gets more widely distributed since a lot of people seem mostly reassured by the details it provides.

Because this, good ser, is the internet. Dramaz and recycled threads are a pivotal part of it.
