Why cant I play as my Grey Warden I created and loved so much? How dare you give me this Hawke character!

/rant off

In all seriousness, am I the only one who doesn't care? I loved DA:O yes, and I would love to see how my Warden faired the great unkonwn without the blight to fight. But honestly, think about it. How is it that they can make a whole new game and live up to DA:O without making a new main character. If you don't recal, our Grey Warden's job was to stop the blight, that's all. Grey Wardens are not needed anymore excpect being elite forces. So making another game like that will be a hard task to overcome.

Plus the next blight isn't gonna happen anytime soon, and by then, our Warden will be overtaken by the taint and will no longer be in service :P So stop complaining and move on. Who knows, maybe Bioware is making a DA:O2 to finish what we started somehow, I don't know.

But I personally love the idea of DA2 and cannot wait for new details. So maybe all the complainers out there should stop throwing Bioware under the bus and wait. After all, they are the best RPG maker for a reason :D

I agree. I mean, I like my ****** perfect self-insert Mary Sue of a Warden as much as the next guy, but shouldn't we at least give Hawke a chance? Seems like a pretty alright guy.

Agreed. For all we know Hawke > Warden, no? So little has been revealed and people are already judging the poor guy/girl. I for one absolutely love the idea that we get to play through 10 years of Hawkes life, that leaves plenty of time for character development, and for us to develop squishy feelings for him/her.

Completely agree.

But if you think about it....since this game starts somewhere during the events of DA:O and it covers a 10 year time span it is possible that our Wardens' outcome will be determined during this game.

[but consider how boss The Warden was I doubt it'll be anything other then retiring to the deeproads. =P]

Indeed. I was quite worried what plot DA2 would evolve around for my HNF Warden if it was a direct sequel. I kept imagining DA2:Life at Court like it was some sort of Sims expansion. Battle Eamon as he nags the importance of an heir! 7 tiers of Orlesian silk dresses to choose from! Use the all-new Diplomacy/Dictator talent to bring the arls in line!

Yeah...I'm okay with this Hawke guy, really.

Haha I know! :D
But its good to know I'm not the only one who thinks that we should at least give him/her a try.

OP, I like how you have 2 opinions in one... Hehe. Most ppl, I think that they feel the same. I have mixed reactions from DA2 and this Hawke character so far, but it's too soon to judge the new story. As you said, there aren't any interesting scenarios for our grey warden left after the end of the blight (Origins) and after restoring the numbers of the Fereldan Grey Wardens and ruling their new arling of Amaranthine (Awakening). Only possible and interesting scenario was Morrigan and her God child with our warden, but not all players chose the dark ritual or Morrigan as their lover. I think that Bioware will not abandon this though. Maybe an expansion, a DLC or DA3 will cover this.

I hope that DA2 is not going to be an action RPG with a simplified inventory system and totally different gameplay so that Bioware can attract even more console gamers or players without experience from RPGs. That's my only concern about it. Story wise I have blind faith to them, or at least I believe that the new story is going to be above average standards.

As a fan of Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, maybe I'm a bit biased when I say this, but I hope Hawke has the same level of potential badassery as Shepard, but with loads more flexibility in regards to personality.

I look forward to DA2, but I'm easy to please. Like, VERY easy to please.
