I am a level 5 Warrior and I have tried at least 15 times with various changes and cannot get the Ogre past 50%.  I am really at a loss here.  I am early in the game and I cannot light the beacon!  LOL  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I just finished up Lothering with my warrior, was probably around the same level, on hard difficulty. I used the Circle Mage as my main, and when the ogre came up to swing I would step around it, which Im guessing is showing that it is a slow monstrous creature. Worked for me.

You can also try to have your warrior tank kite the ogre around the room while everyone else shoots it.

If that doesn't work, make sure everyone who isn't tanking is flanking and hitting the ogre on its back.

I did it w/ my 2H warrior on normal and it was a tough fight, but in the end, only the tower guard died at the very end.

I also heard the paralize works on it... though I didn't try it.  If it does, certainly try to paralize it w/ your mage npc.

Use space and adapt your tactics. Look at your mages spells or set him to "Controller".

Try putting Allister* in a defensive mode, let the dog do whatever....

What is your build on your warrior?

dps dps dps dps. On Hard mode with an all melee party, have the mage rtfa and use spells + ranged, the rest switch to a 2h and just wail on him. If he does his grab move, reload the fight. :)

Was easier for me, and my warrior is sword and board specced. Just time it so you move out of the way or behind the ogre as it is swinging at you, or getting ready to. Using the circle mage to its maximum benefit is imperative in my opinion.

You can always go into the Options menu and change it to Easy for just that battle (assuming you're not already running it in Easy ;))

I let the soldiers and Alister attack at will and then ran around with my mage using ranged attacks. My last soldier ended up killing him as he was chasing my mage.

i had everyone pull out their bows and set up in a large circle around the room...i used my pause a lot, and as the ogre got close to a character i would pause, and run across the room. Rinse and repeat til he was done.

Took a while but thats how it's done on nightmare =) be careful though you really cant afford to take more than a few hits, which is why the pause is necessary so you are sure to run by (essentially a kiting technique to those familiar)

How do you approach the fight with the Ogre? I have fought him as a rogue and a mage. With the rogue I had Alistair tank him, the Tower Guard melee and the mage blasting him from the rear. Won on the first try on Normal difficulty. When I played as the mage I once again had Alistair tank, the two Guards melee and stun and myself as the mage pummel him with spells, stuns and occasionally healing my fighters.

Just remember to run in the opposite direction when the ogre throws a boulder at one of your companions, as it is physics based and not going to hit you if you do. Also to make sure to move your characters out of the way when he readies to pound on the ground for his area of effect attack as well. Keep you warrior in front and make sure to keep the rest in the back for greater damage. Mages should be near the wall out of harms way dealing as much damage as mana allows. Make sure to keep your tanks at full health in case the ogre decides to grab one of them and punches him to death.

try flanking the ogre, if you are getting too much love from ogre, back off a bit and let Alister pick up the aggro for a while. Use your potions, buy them at the camp if you have to. don't let the Ogre grab and squeeze you, hit him with shield bash or pommel to interrupt it.

That's actually really clever.  I may have to try that (though not on nightmare) just to see how it goes.

Make sure to use what ever spell you mage has for igniting or freezing your weapons. Not sure I want to try it on hard but before the patch I killed the orge with my warrior with the other character twiddling their thumbs from twenty five percent on down.

I'm sword and board with both the sword and shield from high ever. Starting with shield stuns then the knock down and keep rotating through them. If you went great sword you may want to control Alister to use his stuns while the AI controls you character to simply hammer at the Orge.

I had dog and Alistair on either side of the ogre, and the circle mage and my main character (also a tank) working at range. It wasn't long before I moved my main to the back of the ogre as well though. Only the mage came close to death when the ogre decided to throw a rock at him. But I saw it coming and was able to cast shield just in time.

Overall, the fight went pretty smoothly. (this on normal difficulty)

As others have probably mentioned, really check out your entire party's special moves. Especially that mage, he has a paralyze spell. If it lands, you can probably get him down a good 30-40% for the duration of the spell. Lightning is very effective as well.

Just don't bunch up your characters directly in front of him and you'll be fine.

Put your main and Alister on opposite sides of him (so he can't hit more than one at a time with his big swings) and keep the others away. Use health potions when one of your guys gets low.

It's really not too bad as long as you keep your people configured so that the ogre is never hitting more than one of them at a time.

And as was mentioned, if it gets down to only two guys and you're desperate, you can just use one to kite him around the room while the other uses ranged attacked to take him down.

My solution was to let all my companions die, then let him chase me around the room. I would turn and toss a spell his way until I eventually wore him down. I don't know if my companions appreciated that...

easiest way is to CC him with mages. I just kept using cone of cold every time it was up and the orge spent most of the fight frozen, unable to do anything. there's also the warrior stun, you could use that and rotate with the mage CoC.

i feel your pain. it took me like 10-15 tries, on 2 characters to beat him. my first character i made was a mage, and i tried and tried and couldn't be him. i ended up starting over and making a rogue. Also took 10 or so tries, but in the end it came down to micromanagement of all party members. i had my mage use the flame weapon buff, and me, as my rogue, i went in the back and spammed fire arrows on him. eventually he wiped out everyone but me, but i managed to finish him off solo. it felt really good to finally beat him.

I just made to level 6 when I encountered that ogre.

Had Death Hex and Death Cloud (8 spells total), + Arcane Bolt.

I Hexed the Ogre and then unleashed the Death Cloud, hedging the ogre with disposable grunts and Alistair so that he would experience Entropic Death 8=)

Used Vulnerability + Drain Life, and a Misdirection Hex.

The Ogre resisted some (tough bastard), but since I put ALL my points into Magic right from character creation, most of the spells got him, including the Death Hex (most vital).

So yeah, he went down (not before knocking out the two grunts, though).
