This is a bad joke. We already had only three races. Now they even remove those. Grmpf.

Personally, I like Terry Pratchett's elves. I would love a game where the elves weren't a playable race, but were actually the main villains.[/quote]
I would love a game where the elves are the main villains AND playable, and it is your goal to conquer the lands of the inferior races.
This would also work

I would join you guys, but all my serious playthroughs were humans. The change dosen't affect me.

Yes! Choices!
Give us elves!
And dwarves!
And Qunari!
And malbari!
And driders!
And hobbits!
And broodmothers!
And desire demons!
And living scarecrows!
And beings of liquid!
And molemen!
And terminators!
And the goddamn Batman!
...The idea of playing a game as a Broodmother...is just amusing to me. Could you imagine that? Sit around all day inputting button commands to spit out new darkspawn. Then when an adventurer shows up...start spitting and tentacle whipping. xD
Think thats funny, on april fools, in Star Wars: The Old Republic (Biowares upcoming MMO), on the Official site for playable races and classes, it said you could play as the sarlacc monster, with a huge backstory for it! NO JOKE! (For those that dont know what a sarlacc monster is, its that creature in the sand with the tentacles at the beggining of SW: Epp 6)

Haha, that would actually be kind of funny.

Multiple races are limitations for more immerse storytelling, therefore they had to go.
Darn them multiple races, too much brain power, i'm happy with my immersion experience being told out for me so I can watch it like a movie
Why are you still playing games with that brain power of yours? Shouldn't you be some world-renowned author? And who needs good stories and characters anyway.
Edit: Ah, seeing the new screenshots, I take back all implications I might approve of this new game design. It looks like a PS1 action game. Well done Bioware.

A PS1 Action game? It's suppose to be an RPG not an action game. I hope they haven't forgotten that they're suppose to be making an RPG.

Maybe if DA2 does well enough to warrant another game, the main character of DA3 will be an elf. Who knows, Bio might be planning stories told from the perspectives of various races/nationalities?
One would hope so:). Also it makes sense to some degree ... with the Origins being the origin of the franchise players get a good introduction to 3 different races and some oft their cultures and places in Thedas. So it works well as an introducing players to the world and it's conflicts etc., but because of that you can't go tooo deep for every race/culture. With concentrating on a single player race one can dig a lot deeper into that culture/background for a similar length of game (implying that the same time/efford is being put into the game) then with spreading the same resources out to various different cultures.
So it might well happend that following DA-based games focus on different races/culture then in DA2. But then that might be several years down the line

I hope with the help of the toolset, we can mod Hawke to be an elf . . . . that is so dumb! Bw hears enough b!tching on the forums for making Shepard into a pre-defined character (bullsh_t, imo) and now they are slowly turning all of their rpg's into this? Why? Their games are going into a direction many aren't liking (pssst. Listen to your fans!! You guys found what was successful . . . why deviate?).
Yeah, but a toolset one will just be in looks, people will still act like you're a human. But it might be worth giving a try anyway so we can at least pretend to be an elf and have the elf look.

Somehow I doubt they'll even give us downloadable content new races. It seems like they want to stick to the whole 'one race' thing for this game.

You know... technically Hawke could be part Elf (aka half-elf, quarter-elf, eighth-elf, etc.) since they still look Human in the DA Universe.
Well they're still humans, from an elf and a human you get a human child. Though I wonder if they're actually any different at all from other humans.
