The world is changing, I feel it in the earth, I feel it in the water, I smell it in the air. Much that once was is now
forgotten; for none now live who remember it.
It began with the making of the great games: Three of Baldurs Gate and Neverwinter Nights were given to the oldschool RPG-fans, the most dedicated and loyal of all beings. Two of Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire were given to the new generation of RPG fans, great gamers and players of the new era. And Two were passed to the race of men, who above all else desire power and were thus given Mass Effect.
The oldschool RPG-fans rejoiced upon the release of Dragon Age: Origins and as did all the other races.
...But they were all of them decieved for another game was made: in the halls of Bioware, in the fires of Internet Hate, the dark lord Gaider forged, in secret, a master game to control all others. And into this game he poured his cruelty, his malice, and his will to dominate all life....This game was Dragon Age 2

I don't care, Dragon Age II is a day one purchase for me (and I won't come to complain on these boards unless it really, really sucks, which I highly doubt.

You get to fight like a Spartan. I'm still wondering what that means. Spartans didn't use mages and operated in phalanx.
Marketing, I wouldn't read too much into it. Remember the "This is the new ****" trailer? yeah, expect more of that, even if the game turns out to be about cuddling bunnies, expect more of that.

When I first read that, I immediately thought of Kolgrim and Gerard Butler. Now that we have a voiced protagonist that fights like a spartan, can we expect him to just go around yelling at everyone?

I dunno, looks like an army of Arcane Warriors to me...
Five Stages of Dragon Age 2:
Denial: At announcement, we didn't have all (or any facts), so of course it couldn't be bad.
Anger: Now we have facts that many do not find pleasing and express it.
Bargaining: Please, BioWare, you've already made ME! We'll buy DA2 if you stop making it Shepard with swords!
Depression: They're not going to change anything. They don't care. All they want is the bottom line for the lowest common denominator.
Acceptance: It's going to be okay...the game will be so mediocre that parts that seemed plain in DA1 will shine with the brilliance of a thousand suns!

"Bioware deserves a slow death!"
"Deserves it! I daresay it does. Many Companys that live
deserve
death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it
to them Davasar?
Then do not be too eager to deal out death in
judgement. For
even the very wise cannot see all ends. I have not
much hope
that Mr. Gaider can be cured before he retires, but there is a
chance
of it. And he is bound up with the fate of this game.
My heart
tells me that he has some part to play yet, for good or
Ill,
before the end; and when that day comes, the hope of old school gamers
may rule
the fate of many - yours not least."

Weve got almost no info so far. Only way to keep entertained is either whine or create conspiration theories. Or both.

We just accept the inevitable that DA is going to become another action RPG in a market already saturated with them. Eventually this craze will die like any other and maybe some company will come along with a good, thoughtful RPG again.
Well all the action RPGs need to be released now. Because @ 2012 were getting Diablo III which will dominate action RPG field for another 10 years...

Yes we all probably had the same reaction when we saw what was happening, but after thinking it through I realized that this game won't be a bad thing.
My only concern is that I hope it will be still relevant to Origins.

They probably meant fight like the "300" Spartans. Aka break the line and slaughter everything in slow motion.

If I wanted to play a game with a forced character I’d go with Witcher (which I couldn’t be arsed to finish) or Fable (which I didn’t bother with after the 1st time through the 1st game).
