It's just sad that this forum has to erupt in childish hysterics (yes, on both sides) every time anything happens.

Well, like I said, this particular board isn't that special--basically, if a franchise changes and it has a place for people to discuss it, all the feelings and arguments you see here (on both sides) will play out there.

LP, this thread started going downhill when someone suggested this was an anti-whiner thread, which it isn't.

Need my help trying to get this back to being a "Calm Down" thread?

Cause people do need to relax. At least this thread doesn't have some hardly hidden meaning behind it(STARES AT YOU).

This thread was created with the purpose for people who have calmed down after initial attacks to come and share. Several things happened since then.

Then maybe this is too far gone as well. People are just too riled up these days.

THAT is why I feel we need more mods. I've hit up some devs and mods about it. We'll see what happens.

Things are gonna get heated and we need more people to handle it. We're kinda short at the moment.

Javi's barely containing the ME boards by himself.

Nah. Its up to Chris and Stanley. My responses have come from everyone BUT them though. Javi, Sea, and Mary all agree with me, but its not up to them.

I feel a little better now since my initial reaction but I don't like the new direction these games are going in. I've never had problems with Bioware games, except for the bugs they do not fix for the consoles.

Luckily, I subscribed to the GI magazine so I'm anxious to get some real information. My only wish is for Bioware to at least change that stupid name "Hawke."

Hawke comes from the same inspirations and time periods as the real names found in DAO, so I don't see the problem with it.

Yeah yesterday I was completely up in arms. Today I'm a little more relaxed. My main concern is still having DA:O be relevant, but I'm finding ways that the dialogue wheel could work (if they implement it correctly).

The dialogue wheel is one of the worst elements of Mass Effect, and I say that as a fan of the series. Not knowing what your character will say is terrible. Not knowing how they will react is terrible. KNowing that "Upper right = good" and "Lower right = bad" and "Left = generic and meaningless" absolutely destroys any immersion in the conversations. You simply steer the character to "paragon or renegade" as you see fit, never really knowing what Shepard is going to say, and completely disengaged from the conversations as a result.

The wheel is awful.

I'd venture to say that you're quite a minority in that view. But of course, you are entitled to it.

As for this thread. Can't we all just get along?

Why does everyone who doesn't have a problem with the game insist on turning into such children and throwing tantrums every time someone doesn't like something that they are changing?

I'm really looking forward to DA2 and I'm actually excited for many of the changes. I just don't see the point in bickering like little kids. I know it's an impossible dream, but shouldn't this forum be about discussing the game reasonably and taking advantage of the fact that we actually get to interact with the folks at Bioware and have our concerns heard?

/grandstand

That our opinions don't perfectly mimic yours does not make us "unreasonable". That's pretty arrogant and actually pretty offensive.

I'M sick of listening to everyone who has a complaint be called "ignorant' "whiner" "moron" "******" "children" etc.

We have LEGITIMATE concerns based on confirmed information. One of those is the dialogue wheel, which has significant problems in ME2. There's nothing like having your character flat-out murder someone in cold blood when you only thought he was going to yell. That ruins the game immersion.

Having this opinion doesn't make us "ignorant" or "whiners".

Nor do I. Which is why I never used any of the words you just quoted out...are you sure you meant to quote my post? Because if you read it again, you'll see I was not attacking you and was in fact wondering aloud why  those who support the changes are so hostile to the negative opinions of others.

Despite being taken aback at first, I like what I've heard about DA2 so far, but have found the attacks on those who don't pretty childish. Though, if this is the way you respond to all attempts at beckoning reasoned discussion I can certainly understand their inclination...

Whining about being called a whinner isn't helping your case, especially when you misquote someone.

I believe there are faults on both sides and the best way is to infect the forum with a lot of calm and reasonable posts.

Well when you quote a post directly and use language like "you" and "yours" it does give a certain kind of impression.

That's fair.

There are certainly unreasonable people on both sides. I just think that the outrage on the side of those who see a problem with the game is at least coming from somewhere. I don't see the point in meeting their outrage at the changes with even more outrage.

But you're right. As a wise man once said, "It took everyone working together to screw this one up." It's just best not to give in to the impulses to join in, eh.

I'm pretty calm. I think the dialogue wheel is fine. I don't like the "Spartan" and "the deadliest of allies" stuff but that is just marketing and marketing is the refuge of failed writers and artists so it's not like they could make any sense if they tried.

Also I think this has a chance to be a good game. I trust in Gaider. He is not gonna let the turds overrun his visions. I am a little bitter that every game must be "improved" to suit the 360 but that is life. For now.

As one of those who's been calm about this from the beginning... I'm just gonna say "it's going to be okay". Seriously.

But then again, I love ME as much as DA - so apparently I'm one of the bad guys here. Uh oh.

No, not bad. Just receptive, accepting, and optimistic, all of which is positive.

Keep that thought process going.
