Well you only get Exp when a party member kills the Enemy, However the person who hits the finishing blow will get the most Exp. Anyone else who kills the Enemies without being in your party will not yeild you any Exp.

Well only your party which is whoever you can control should have yellow rings.

So Green Ring kills dont give exp? Anyways
>(v2.9) Fix the xp bug that make enemies not giving xp when killed by a non-party member.
it appears Advanced Tactics got it covered already.

What is this green ring? There's your party, yellow, your allies, blue, and the enemy red. Just check how many XP you have before you kill an enemy, have this green ring kill it, whatever it is, and check again. If it's the same, then no, you don't get XP.
Wait, so if a party member kills an enemy, the PC doesn't get as much XP as the party member who killed the enemy? That's ridiculous. The NPCs scale up to the PC's level regardless of whether they're ever with you. I need to get as much XP as possible before the final battle so I can increase my attributes and skills... Now I have to make sure I'm the one who kills every single enemy?

i think as long as your party manages to damage the enemy before its killed, by any color ring, it will net you XP.

It's ridiculous because the NPCs get XP even if they don't do anything, so the only character that actually needs all the XP he can get is the warden, and he's not getting it just because he didn't strike the final blow.

ah, i thought i saw irony for a second. Cant say i agree or disagree because it has rather little in common with the original question dont you think. For as long as every party member gets XP for a kill at all, which they apparently not always do.

Okay, I don't know if y'all are playing consoles or PCs. In the PC version, all members of the party (yellow rings) get an equal amount of experience regardless of who strikes the killing blow. That XP number you see flash on the screen when an enemy goes down is what everyone is getting.
As for green rings, what you may have seen was the overlap of an ally's blue ring with the yellow ring of one of your party members so that your eye read it as green. There are no green rings in-game, only yellow, blue and red.
Do not worry about being a high enough level to manage the end game. Getting at least as far as Level 20 is pretty much assured if you are thorough about taking side quests. I've gone into the final encounter with the Archdemon at Level 22. Oh! And don't forget to add items to the allies' crates in your camp as these donations grant you experience points.

I was just making a point, and your original question was already answered. But it looks like they all get the same amount of XP, so it's fine. I know my character will be fine for the final battle, I just want him to be as powerful as possible.

Why is everybody saying that levelling up is not an issue in this game? I don't know what bugs you are exploiting to level up, but for me levelling up was indeed very much an issue, I killed the archdemon, game over and I haven't even been able to reach lvl 25! I only reached it in Awakening, after pulling the lever that opens the gate inside the keep. I have all DLCs and everything, finished every single quest, nada.
Anyway, I created a mod for myself that changes the XP gain like this:
http://dragonage.wik...k:Blood_Control
party enemy killed by party member; no XP for friendly casualties - if you cast Death Cloud and non-party NPC allies die, no XP for me
party enemy is killed by another party enemy: enemy casts fireball, kills its ally accidentally, I get XP. I use Blood Control, dominate enemy, enemy is either killed or kills one of its former allies, I get XP in either case.
Still couldn't reach lvl 25 by the end of the campaign, so stop saying levelling up is not an issue!

Reaching level 25 without cheating is very difficult, you have to do every quest you can, give everything you can to your allies in camp, all dlc, kill every enemy yourself to get full xp, unlock everything and find every codex and it still will be close.

Levelling up is not an issue in the sense that you don't need to be level 25 to win the final battle. I had one character finish at level 16; others have finished with characters even lower.WRFan wrote...

I did run across one other occasion where you get experience points which I didn't mention in my earlier post. If you come across two groups of enemies fighting each other, it's fine to hang back and wait to finish off the victors yourself. You'll get experience points for every red ring that goes down even if your party barely drew a blade.
The character I'm currently playing is Level 21, and we haven't even gotten to the Landsmeet yet. We're in Denerim getting ready for the Landsmeet. I have no problems finishing DA:O at Level 22. The "extra quest" DLCs I have are Warden's Keep, Stone Prisoner and Return to Ostagar. The one character I've taken all the way through Awakening finished at Level 33.
And WRFan, if reaching Level 25 is stressing you out, just relax. It truly isn't necessary to level so high to enjoy the game or win the final battle.
