yes, of course the first reaction will be the more violent, but i wouldn't say that we will just accept and be satisfied.
Our fears are based on something. Specifically Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age Awakening. They changed their previous' game style to appeal to another crowd (not casual or anything... just people with a different taste). This is going to disappoint me and no matter how much info we get, it is still as true and disappointing.
heck i'm still really disappointed with Mass Effect 2 even though i already played through it's great story. And awakening... well it was nice... but really a step down from origins and i'm still disappointed.

They follow some guidelines with the expanions, and more or less I saw in Awakening the same things they did with Tales of the Swoard Cost and with NWN xpansions. The only exception was Throne of Baal, but they have already shown us more than one time that it's difficult they will follow again that path in future games...

Anyway....Apart from this... the team who worked to Awakening wasn't the same who worked for DA:O/DA2 !

And same thing with ME2... People talks about BW like as they was a single team and all the employers worked on all games..but they are different teams, with different witers, different styles and different theories.. Therefore if you want to compare ME2 you should compare it with ME1 not with all BW games.

Each game has a separate story, with a different genesis and with different people working around it...
Therefore saying that BW is changing his style and DA2 won't have the same quality of past games because you compare 3 different games and you didn't like 2 of them it's a wrong way in my opinion, because the one you liked is just the one who was created by the same people who are at work on DA2

The only comparison you should do therefore is between DA:O and DA2. And we all know that the first was a great game, and we have only few informations about the second one..so it's impossible NOW to say if Bioware has changed the way they do the games, and if so what they changed, and if the changes are good or not

while that is true, they are showing a tendency to the same overall design philosophy. THey do all have the same Boss, and EA looking over them. and the DA team did say that what has been done with the DLC and awakening is the direction they want to go with DA:O

At around the same time the whiners pop up we see the Bioware apologetics stand up. Although very small in number they are nevertheless noticeable by all the threads they make calling forums an end to all of the whining. In sharp contrast to the whiners they seem to agree with every decision that BW has made.

I think you'd have an extremely difficult time finding someone who agrees with every decision Bioware has ever made. I've often been called a Bioware apologetic despite my grievances against every game Bioware put out between Baldur's Gate 2 and Mass Effect 2. I'm someone who thinks that Bioware's best days were both in the past and in the future, but generally resents the period when KoTOR, Jade Empire, and the first Mass Effect were made. Still fine games, but 7/10 or 8/10 games to me, not the 10/10 I'd give to BG2 or ME2.

What most "apologetics" object to is the self entitlement that some fans have and the presumptions that they know better than Bioware. Bioware may not always make the right decisions regarding their games, but they've certainly made enough good decisions to warrant not being second-guessed constantly. Especially through ridiculous dramatics on the forums.

of course bioware knows what they are doing. they WILL have success with these decisions. But we also know what we like and thats what we are saying

Understood, and it's certainly a good idea to voice your concerns now. However, we're at that early stage where we don't have enough information to make any extremely solid conclusions about what the product will be like or why they are doing certain things.
Voicing reasonable concerns = good
Being idiotically obtuse about a product and assuming more than you know then having five year old tantrums = bad
Calling Bioware the coming of the antichrist who doesn't care about their fans = silly

Honesty.. considering how many different developers EA owns and the vastity of game genres they cover with their distribution I find it difficult they are able to control in such a capillary way every single detail.. Anyway.. everything can happen so maybe also I am wrong and EA is really a "big brother" which exerce influence over every single team/employer...

Apart from this.. I don't remember they ever said they want Awakening (or DLC) to be the guide line for future games. I remember Gaider saying many times that games are naturally evolving and everytime they try to find solutions and to introduce modifications that in their opinion have the purpose to improve both the games and their work, but he also added that this modifications aren't always going to be used also for future games.. if this happens or not depends on many factors

Do you remember the long debat about the system dialogue in Awakening? Many of us had the feeling they were trying to force us to accept that system because they intended that one as the new system dialogue for future games.. Well.. There is somewhere a post of David where he said that DA2 won't use the same dialogue system of Awakening
