Hello one and all. I just want to say a massive thankyou for the inclusion of the dialogue system. I myself have Aspergers and one of the traits of it is struggling in social situations to understand what people are saying. Tone of voice and emotion are often lost on me. Hopefully this new dialogue system will lead to me and others with Aspergers having a better understanding what is said in game as now you have in the middle of the dialogue ring whether what your saying is in a sarcastic or aggresive tone etc. This was not possible in the first game. So yeah I just want to say a big thankyou to Bioware.
Literally I can look back and laugh now but when Morrigan said "Tis cold in my tent all alone" my response was to get a warmer blanket. It seemed logical, I was there leader, she was asking for help. It was only when my friend said I could have started a romance then that I went back and re did that certain situation ;). So yeah massive thanks Bioware. really I know some people are complaining about the new dialogue but I think it will really help me plan out what I can now do and say as a character.

They possibly could see this, I guess if true this is why Alpha Protocol and the ME games appeal to me in a way. Some of the lines in Dragon Age (especially when talking to Leliana) apparently didn't mean or weren't delivered the way I assumed and I only knew this because of their reactions. I didn't really have this problem in ME or AP.

Cool! I know exactly what you mean, as I have little sister who is asperger. Or actually she is bordering Autism as she has even worse social problems than just comprehending emotion, submessages and so on. But anyway I'm glad for you.

Oh, I mean I personally am not asperger. Actually quite oppositely I have strong tendency for sarcasm, reverse humor and strong sense of irony. Makes communicating with my sis frustrating... So, I actually might accidentally cause havoc in such group.

I'm an Aspie too! Although I think I'm pretty high functioning, as I don't have so big a problem noticing the way people say things, like you mentioned in the OP. I have a terrible problem relating to it when they do, though. I understand when someone's upset or angry or whatever, but it doesn't affect me too much.

And MaaZeus, I wouldn't say that being Aspie precludes one from using irony, sarcasm, etc. I do it all the time. However, I'd say that we might have a tendency to make obscure references to things that other people aren't likely to get, and not realise that they won't understand what we're talking about. At least, that often happens to me.

Ooh bet that wasn't a pleasant experience. Seriously though. All these people are complaining about the dialogue wheel, I think its going to be a very helpful clear way of doing things.

It'll be helpful for everyone. The dialogue options will be truncated/paraphrased, like in ME, so nobody would really be able to tell the intent without the new helpful icons.

For me its not the layout but the fact that it puts whether what youre saying is aggresive or sarcastic or suave etc. You didn't have that before.

This is a really good point. I hadn't thought about the dialogue system in this way. Shows my privilege, I guess.

I am actually kind of excited for this new dialogue system.

Really?

I have mild Autism and I manged to pick up on our party members' varius ways of flirting pretty well, though I guess it's different for everyone.

Still, I'm also kind of interested to see how the new dialogue system plays out, it doesn't seem so bad right now, so long as they hire a good voice actor.

I like the Mass Effect system anyway, but I would like it if there were more options than in ME. Maybe 5 options. Mass Effect usually has 3.

True, there are many levels of asperger. I was mostly just joking and blowing the subject out of proportions. But my sisters condition is just so bad that it is bordering autism, (actually she was originally diagnosed as Autistic) not a good reference point for common asperger and definetly nothing like what you are OP are having.
