All of the concerns that you have raised are perfectly valid, as are many of the concerns raised on this board.

Unfortunately, when the release date comes, you have only two choices: to either buy the game and enjoy it for what it is, or to ignore it and never play it. What can you do about it? These details have already been released. I doubt any level of criticism will force BioWare to backpedal on what has already been set in stone.

Given what we know of the game thus far, that's going to be an easy decision.

The implementation of the Mass Effect "wheel" is horrific. I say that as an actual fan of the Mass Effect games. I enjoy them in-spite of that god-awful wheel, not because of it. I can't imagine what made someone think it was a good idea to put that monstrosity into Dragon Age.

1. Not knowing what your character will say is awful.
2. Not knowing how your character will react is awful.
3. Knowing the "upper right = good" "Lower right = bad" "Middle = neutral" and "left = doesn't affec tthe story" completely obliterates any actul thought, personalization, and connection you feel to the conversations.

The ME Wheel is a Blight.

I don't pay attention to where on the wheel anything is. I just pick a response that is appropriate to the situation at hand and to the way I have decided to role play Commander Shepard

Well I come on here and read the posts most days () and since the very little information we have about DA:2 has been released, all I seem to be reading is moaning and I am not entirely sure why?

It's probably premature and a bit of a kneejerk reaction, but I can see where some fans might be concerned with the changes that BioWare have chosen to make with DA2. Based on what happened with the ME->ME2 transition there's an existing and documented history of EA/BioWare getting radical with sequels. I can honestly say that with the information available at the moment, I'm inclined to give it a pass and find something else to play.

The other thing I see people whining about is the new dialogue system. There is no reason to be upset here. Having a dialogue wheel is no different from having it listed. Gaider somewhere listed the advantages of "abbreviating" what your responses are, so I won't go into it here. They haven't said anything that would make me think they are "selling out" or "dumbing down the game," let's hope they can finish their game before the raging fanboys burn down their offices.

The moment that you whiners start whining about other whiners whining, you get tuned out. If you can't understand that other people might have legitimate questions, concerns or complaints, then your contribution to any discussion is essentially just a worthless, self-serving exhibition of public masturbation.

I'm going to agreed with you Caster, and as for the limited Ed. having an exclusive character included just adds fuel to my nerd rage. DA: ][][ is a pass for me.

Using the wheel that way is your problem, not the wheel's.

News flash for ya -- Bio almost always arranges dialog responses by alignment. You could have played BG or NWN the same way. With KotOR you could have done so too right up to the Temple, where they screwed a lot of stupid players over by reversing the order. And yes, there were complaints about that.

I don't think a player is stupid if they missed the switch. You're being given a very obviously good or evil path to take. If a player already knows what decision they're going to make, why would they stop to read the PC dialogue?

I'm not really disappointed by anything I've seen/read so far (it takes a lot to tick me off, to be honest), but I am anxiously awaiting new info on future male companions/LI's, if they are revealed as such. Where's fem!Hawke's eye candy, eh? Posted Image Yeah, yeah, all in good time, I know. Well, there is that old saying about good things coming to those who wait; perhaps my patience will be rewarded in the, I hope, relatively near future? Only time will tell.

This is exactly the greatest issue here, multiple races and origins, the focus of DA1 was on them and even the marketing was all about how races/origins and even gender influence the whole world, now they take it all out

instead of deepening the ingame reaction differences for various backgrounds developers seem to got lazy/scared instead and decided to roll it all back

Ironically, one of the most criticized features on the old DA:O forum was the idea of origins. That they would destroy roleplay, that they were a major step back from BG, etc etc.

The goal of the origins was to make the protagonist a bigger part of the world as opposed to the generic prop you usually find in an RPG. The entire point was to define your character more because that would make for a richer story.

Well, in DA:O they're defining the character even more for the sake of the story. That's the same philosophy.
