Isn't it more likely that EA are the ones who ordered them to make DA2 be more like the more successful ME franchise in order to increase sales?

Doubt it, since DA sold better.

I'm just anal over not being able to be a dwarf, all the other changes seem like they could work pretty well.

a) Because they liked DAO as it was and care a lot about what happens to the franchise, so get very vocal if they believe Bioware is doing it wrong.

B) Because they can.

There was much concern about abolishing some features in BGII (the pause screen in inventory during combat, the non human limitless character levels...). There were posts but nothing so intense as this :) I was one of the purists that was against those changes. Well, they happened anyway and BGII was the greatest game ever made.
What can I say. They surprised me so hugely once, I think it can be done again... :)

Especially when they don't even have enough information for their complaints to actually matter, or make sense.

It makes sense to them and to them they have enough info.
SO then you have a complaint.Too bad not everyone can understand everyone even though we speak the same language and know the same things.

I know I have been one that was like a kid that lost his stuffed animal. I'am going to say that I don't think we will ever really know but at the same time, I think the Iron was hot and they wanted to ride in a another game faster and you can't do that with the way DAO was made, it takes a longer bit of time to make and the way the Market is, you want to get it out there fast, if they had waited 3 to 4 years, people would soon forget about alot of it. I know alot of us would not but thats just it, not alot of us but I don't think its over for DAO, this is DA2 so alot can still be told from our first story, don't lose hope.

Because the more popular something is, the cooler you appear for hating it.

Obviously.

Stating in a very calm and serene way that some of us are disappointed by the fact that we won't be able to play an Elf or a Dwarf is not retarded whining.

Non human origins in DAO are definitely my favourite origins. I'm really happy playing a Dwarf in DAO because in the game they are just incredibly interesting characters and belong to a very interesting society. At least Elves and Dwarves in DAO are more than Santa's little helpers or stereotyped high fantasy clichés. The Human Noble Origin is fine but it is nowhere near the epic quality of the Dwarf Noble origin or the gritty harshness of the City Elf and Dwarf Commoner.

Now, the premise that we are limited to a human persona in DA2 is not appealling to some DAO fans. There is nothing wrong with saying it in a non offensive manner. We all know that Bioware has made a decision not to include them as PCs and there is nothing that can be done about it.

Nevertheless we're entitled to state the fact that some of us feel it is a step back after the non human awesomeness in DAO.

To say so is not ranting nor does it mean anger directed at Bioware. I'd like to understand the reasons why they ditched non humans and I could surmise that voice overs cost a lot in terms of budget and that there is a point about the game being more focused by being tailored for humans only but that is a bit of a letdown to some players.

Because people whined for a voice-over for the main character which I've been told has lead to them restricting to one race.

I agree that EA probably is doing this considering the very short time frame this is being pushed out.  Thats EA's style, however bioware sold their souls for quick cash, so they are not off the hook.  I am not sure how ME is more successful, ME2 sold 2 million units world wide, while DAO sold 3 million.  Seems DAO is the clear winner.

Adding a voice to the main character doesn't make a good argument to only alow one race. Many voice over actors are very good at doing more than one voice so it doesn't really mean that you need to get more voice actors you just record a few more lines as the main charater and a few for some NPC. Sure its a little more time but you already bring in these actors anyhow so I find it hard to believe that it would break the bank.

Besides I've wanted them to add different voice options for the shepard charcter since before ME2 came out, perhaps in different accents like english or australian or some thing. One male voice and one female voice gets boring almost as much as one race will decrease my disire to replay the game and has me considering to just rent insted of buy which will hurt their sales.

Thats just my $0.02 though.

EA pushes the buttons but they remain behind the scenes usually...so it's the game studios that take all the heat.

Changes do that to people until they get used to it.

Changing something you get used to ( like your girlfriend ) might be hard sometimes but that doesn't mean you have to hate the new change ( like new girlfriend ) Both have their own unique style.

Because they're not patient enough to wait for more information and are willing to jump down their throats at the simple thought of things being different.

I think there is enough info to know some of the things being changed is not what people like.Maybe the rest of the info will make up for it.Who knows. They only know what has been stated by Bioware and it is a good enough info to be upset by those few things. Now there are people who will overreact but this is not everyone.

What cracks me up the most is when it's a feature you like or find important that's being cut, it's ok to say something about it. When it's a feature you don't find that important or don't care about one way or the other, it's whining if someone else says something about it.

I swear, this board is full of hypocrites.

Without customer feedback how can Bioware improve their product to better suit their consumers?

Yes I know there are a lot of whingers on these forums ("Thanks Bioware youve just ruined Dragon Age" and so forth) but there are a lot of people with genuine concerns and questions and not all of their fears and dislikes of the new design choices are totally unfounded, not everybody was a fan of Mass Effect and thought the design choices made for that game were totally amazing.

My problem is not with the whiners but the Bioware fanboys and yes men who attack any and all criticisms no mater how constructive they may be or how reasonable they may sound.
