Hello everybody, I have a strange problem. Whenever I play Mass Effect, every 5-6 minutes I experience mini-freezes of about 2-3 seconds. It does'nt seem anything related to the game loading data, since there isn't any message saying "loading".... is anybody experiencing the same issue?

Thanks in advance! :)

My pc:
-Os: Windows XP with service pack 3
-Main board: Asus P7p55d LE with integrated sound card
-Cpu: i5 2,67gh
-Graphic card: Asus EAH 5850
-4gb Ram (but XP only uses 3gb)
-Monitor: LG Flatron M1962D
-Resolution used:1360x768

You need to get rid of whatever service or background application you are running and allowing to interrupt the game.  Use Microsoft's guide to the Clean Boot procedure to track it down.

Thanks for your quick reply mate, but I think it's not related to background applications, because I've been playing several games lately, and this issue only happens with ME1

Any other tip?

Try staying in a small area, devoid of any baddies, dancing npcs, or anything else that could chew ram. Any of the "loot rooms" on the various side missions should do nicely.

Now comes the boring bit, run around in that small area for the next 10 odd minutes to see if you still get the freeze. If it still freezes, it would seem to point to PC/engine problems. If it doesnt freeze, I would hazard a guess that its loading the larger area map nifo in the background, but it isnt triggering the "loading" message for some reason.
