I would agree with this only if you could hook it up to a PC. Whats the point of having a toolset if you can't use it.

If anything, BioWare should perhaps offer an "export to console" function on the toolset. But, no doubt, you guys will still need a decent PC to run the toolset.

I believe that a scarce few games on the PS3 offer some mod support. I think Unreal Tournament 3 is one of them.

Microsoft would never allow mods on the console, but perhaps Sony might. But it's all up to BioWare and EA though.

Yes please. I really hate the PC elitist attitude. Yes they have a better machine and yes there richer than me because they can afford a good PC. dont make me feel even worse guys :(.

It's not really possible. Obviously to use that beast with a controller would be like climbing Mount Everest and I don't think it is in Microsoft's best interests that Xbox 360 is that open.

We haven't even heard if the PC will have a toolset yet, regardless you would still need a PC to make console mods, it's not like it would be a program you could fire up on your Xbox.

I built my computer for less than $700 two years ago. It maxed out Dragon Age fine.

My brother bought the PS3 + TV for 900 euros total... less than my PC. It's less expensive to buy a console + good TV than a PC + whatever monitor, keyboard or mouse you like, even 20 years old.

Laptops are more expensive because they are... laptops. I guess a good gaming laptop would cost over 1000 euros.

I know but I see the PC version of DAO being superior graphics wise and tactics wise. Of course I tell myself its the story that matters and of course it does but I still feel jealousy when I see how much better the PC DAO is compared to the 360.

This has been asked before and it simply isn't possible. I can't find the post that answered it since it was so long ago but that gist of it was:

- not enough memory, the toolset on the PC already consumes more memory than the game itself and that's with multiple gigabytes to work with, not just 512mb
- no operating system
- there would be problems licensing the middleware it uses

The toolset isn't just a level editor, it's what the developers used to make the game.

PCs aren't that expensive considering they have many other functions besides gaming. Also, the games are cheaper.

Anyway, it's not elitism that stops console players getting things like the toolset. It's Microsoft and Sony that won't ever allow it. The whole reason why many PC gamers don't warm to consoles is because they're so controlled, and part of why they fell in love with games in the first place was because of the freedom that gaming on the PC offered them in terms of customisation, modding, etc.

A cheap PC (< $500) can run DA just fine, and console games cost more than PC games. Not only are you guys playing on inferior machines, you aren't even saving much money.

I guess this means that I'm making you feel really worse.

Not a toolset for consoles, but creating mods and editting files on PC and transfering to the consoles.

but can't it be like you make the modd with the toolset on PC and then transfer it into the console itself

despite the fact that every console is not capable of handling a toolset, sony and microsoft DO NOT ALLOW modding. it's absolutely not bioware's fault!

Like I said, aside from the technical restrictions that come from using inferior hardware, the companies that make the consoles simply will not allow it.

I have a gaming rig at home, but the laptop I'm using now maxes out DAO with 50-60 fps.  I got it for about 1500 US a year ago.  Just make sure you buy one with a real videocard and not some crappy integrated deal and you should  at least be able to run the game.  DAO's requirements are fairly low.
