No kidding. Wow. Im really bad at technology. How much would a good gaming laptop cost you reckon ?

I have a gaming rig at home, but the laptop I'm using now maxes out DAO with 50-60 fps.  I got it for about 1500 US a year ago.  Just make sure you buy one with a real videocard and not some crappy integrated deal and you should  at least be able to run the game.  DAO's requirements are fairly low.

does DAO run good with a laptop?
i've always wanted to play DAO in a laptop
that way i can play DAO wherever i am whenever i want

despite the fact that every console is not capable of handling a toolset, sony and microsoft DO NOT ALLOW modding. it's absolutely not bioware's fault!

when did sony said they don't allow modding?

to provide software for consoles you have to sign a contract that there are no issues with this software and the console. with mods you can't fulfill this at all. the same goes for mircosoft.

It works good in a pinch, I use it to entertain myself when things are slow at work. Really if you want to get into PC gaming you should get a tower with a nice huge monitor though (although if you have a decent Flat screen tv, that works too.) You can build a useable tower for 500-1000, not counting peripherals.

You mean like Little Big Planet, ModNation Racers and JoeDanger? All 3 PS3 games have build-in toolset, essentially developer's tool for creating game's levels.

Several PS3 games allow full modding, for example you can download any crazy **** Unreal Tournament 3 mod, copy it to your PS3 HDD and run.

Microsoft are full of **** though, but I've always hated that company anyway.

That would be a fairly complex undertaking...  I can't imagine the DA toolset ever being usable with console controls, frankly.

As for user-made mods, what would be the legal situation if you installed a mod that ended up damaging your console?  Any different from the PC situation?

Yeah sure... If they would follow the same level of quality on the toolset that was released for PC the console would IMPLODE.

Perhaps quite a number of PS3 was damaged by half-arsed UT3 mods. But hey, it was your choice and Sony gave you no guarantees! Mods aren't certified.

Understood.  I guess I was just wondering in the light of my experience with NWN mods (there's a huge range out there, but none have any real official status with Bioware due in part to the NWN EULA).

Yes please. I really hate the PC elitist attitude. Yes they have a better machine and yes there richer than me because they can afford a good PC. dont make me feel even worse guys :(.

my PC wasn't much more expensive then your console.....that's what's hilarious.  And I can play every game out now at max settings and 1920x1080.

also you can thank the likes of Micro$oft as to why you'll NEVER get a toolset for the console version.

but blame us "elitists" if you must.....I find it funny..because it's the fact we get the superior games...yet we're "elitists" for saying so.

btw I own and love all 3 consoles this gen.

but that doesn't change facts.

but whatever you want to tell youself.  guess I'm just being an "elitist"

there is a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE difference between the editors in those games compared to a full-fledged toolset like DA:O's, Fallout 3's, Oblivion, and Morrowinds..

it's apples and oranges..L...M...A...O....

it's like saying an etch-o-sketch is the same thing as Paint Shop Pro/Corel Draw/etc

but I'll give ya that at least the likes of MNR and LBP are more advanced..but they're still bottle rockets against an H-Bomb.

sorry but...research more..talk less..because you have no clue what you're talking about.

but I guess that's my "elitist" attitude talking....

well whether it is or not..you really should educate yourself more....those things aren't even in the same ballpark

I can't imagine a toolset being made for the 360 or PS3. I can imagine something similar to UT3 on the PS3 allowing us to use mods. Sony would be more likely than microsoft to allow a network of some sort that would hosts mods. Microsoft is pretty hardcore when it comes to no modding allowed. Then again that doesn't seem to apply to MW2....

Just forget it, it will not be practical on a console,

and neither sony or microsoft would ever allow it apart from some ,pre- set modifications wich will always be very limited when compared to pc

it all comes down to certification and other legal stuff

since neither microsoft or sony is willing to risk any kind of lawsuit, because some mod blew up some ones console.

and then there is the problem of the OS since there isn't one on console apart from the boot ''OS"

ann all it basicly can do is startup the console.

and that means that the OS needs to be on the CD / DVD what makes it unpractical and expensive

so , modding on a console probably never going to happen

Specially for people like you I've mentioned that those console toolsets are tools for creating levels only. But noooo, you lack reading skills, right? Go buy glasses, or visit a doctor.... Noooo, you imagined those PS3 games games something else. Let me be clear: no importing of models from 3D editors or custom textures, sounds, or writing custom scripts. Only basic map editor with no import/export of content.
I know what I'm talking about. When I was younger I've spent a lot of time with Warcraft 2's and then Warcraft 3's editors, creating custom campaigns and hell I know a thing or two about toolsets. I have steam installed and although by now I rarely use them, I have source SDK and some other (just a bit of modding fun, occasionally) installed.
Map editor for DA2 on console is possible.

Sure, why not? We PS3 users were able to use the PC mods for Unreal Tournament III. We also have NATIVE mouse and keyboard support, so no need to "simplify" our interface Bioware, wink wink

Come think of it, you can just give us a direct pc port, umkay?

tools for creating levels only...with dumbed down abilities...how you gonna trigger a script or set a quest item flag or anything of the sort.  Sure I guess it could be done with a bare-bones editor...but I'd hardly call that a "toolset"

regardless, it's not gonna happen.  Why should Bio spend the time on such a dumbed down abortion?  for a small minority?

how are you gonna write text for those quests?  basically all the editor you're asking for will be good for is creating hack-n-slash maps with no purpose whatsoever...

honestly I just see no point in it.  RPGs don't lend themselves to that dumbed down bare-boned type of editor....there's no reason nor payback for taking the time to design it.  a racing game or FPS sure....an RPG like DA? no...no point whatsoever

EDIT; and in case you haven't noticed I purposely didn't bother addressing your laughable attempt at insulting me....there's really nothing to say to the gibberish.

Suron, well accept my apologies for the insult, but you weren't nice in your response as well, what did you expected?

Anyway, I'd probably agree that toolset itself is not needed for consoles, we just need Unreal Tournament 3 system, when you download a mod and copy it on PS3 HDD to run it.

They "just" need to give you an addins/override folder where to plug-in mods made on the PC. I guess that might work and would satisfy many console players.

The toolset itself ? Not a chance.
