Or maybe he just survives a battle earlier and finds Lothering then it is attacked?

Great idea. Gives the origin-wanting people some of what they want and gives me and others the acknowledgement of our class.
YEs, WE have united under one banner!

It would be interesting to see Hawk as a apostate, basically as your parents were killed by darkspawn and in all the chaos of the Blight no one was there to notice your talent and inform Chantry. Hiding your skills from public and avoiding templars would really be interesting also maybe in the start you could forge an alliance with a demon for power in return for a future debt.
And at the end of the game it consumes your soul. I like it!

Or giving you a choice to kill one of your companions (one with whome you have highest relation) or he will take your soul.

Or hell stealing the old gods power and making it your own. Just the thing you mentioned above included as well.

Or maybe you sail across the sea in pursuit of the demon until you reach the ends of the earth and the sea begins to coalescue into sand, and you find the demon and speak its name, and know that it is part of yourself. Then you travel back to the lands of the living and become the Archmage.Tooneyman wrote...

Why should different classes have different origins?
Serious question not trying to argue, I'm curious as to the reason everyone loves the idea.
A point to consider:
Everyone keeps assuming that MageHawke has to be hunted by the circle and the chantry.
He doesn't live in Ferelden. He did. Likely when he was younger. But not anymore. Why would the authorities of Ferelden have any interest in someone who is not in Ferelden?
I mean I get that people want choice and control and customization but I don't get why that has to mean different origins. After the Origin campaigns in DA:O it was a pretty linear story with very few choices that had any impact on the overall story.
Wouldn't cutting the variable origins free up resources to include more big-impact choices to the rest of the game?

You could have the same basic setup, but with a few caveats depending on your class that gives you some additional incentive to leave Ferelden.
