Either show all,or don't show anything at all.

The point of blatant nudity being...?

There isn't any--I think they should have found camera angles that didn't show that the characters were wearing underwear.

What's the point of violence?
you're not trying to tell me that violence is better to show than nudity?  thought so.

The point of violence? Because it's hard to avoid fighting for your life, battling for freedom, power, or control when the camera won't show what you're doing.

Whereas blatant nudity doesn't need to be there for any other reason than to be sexually explicit. I don't object to sex scenes, which is a part of a relationship.

Besides, if I have to pick between seeing blood pumped out of jugulars in HD detail or graphic sex, I pick the blood. So do the censors.

In my world, sex and nudty is much harder to avoid than violence and fighting.
but than again, you also live in another world poor kid :-)

I might be offended if you could type coherently. But we already went over this, didn't we?

Then find another to play with, no problem for me really :-)

I don't suppose you'd understand this, but, again, sex only needs to be there to be graphic--I don't object to the scenes themselves, but why must they be porn? They needn't be.

Oh, and, in America, DA is rated 17 and up.

Out of curiousity, would you consider the Monster's Ball scene to be porn?

Thats silly. The Video Game demographic is rapidly changing, rapidly growing.

72% of americans play some type of video games.
And more than half of online gamers are 18 or over.

You sure you werent playing Hello Kitty: Island Adventure?

World of Warcraft and some Xbox Live.

My Troll Mage is often insulted for his name.

I wish I could give you an opinion on that, but I've never seen the movie. And, in general, I find that most sex scenes in Hollywood that get graphic don't need to be there. I don't feel like they contribute anything to the movie.

I should specify that, to me, the difference is something being tasteful.

I don't really care what they do with their sex cutscenes. A 30 second cutscene in a game that takes 60+ hours to finish is a drop in the super tanker. I guess if I had a choice, I would prefer something tasteful, focusing more on implication over "realistic" play-doh molded pixel bodies. Even dumb things like the consort scene in ME with the hand sliding down the steamed up plastic egg bubble. If you have to actually see anything, I would prefer more focus on the face since the facial animations in Bioware games >> body animations. Faces also have a chance at portraying some emotion.

Also, full nudity in a game + cutscene will get the game an AO rating slapped on it in the US in a heartbeat, period. Argue all you want about sex vs. violence, sociology, anthropology, FOX news and whatever else these arguments go into, the AO is a death sentence for a game.

Thats what it comes down to. Peoples definitions vary of course.

Something like this is what I consider to be the right balance.

Ok, I was just wondering how you'd interpret that scene because it's one of those that shares a similar labeling system as video games; some see it as tasteful and artistic that furthered the story others see it as blatant porn implemented to drive up sales.

Much like you it seems I don't have a problem with nudity and sex so long as it serves a purpose and is done well. Being over excessive and serving no purpose however is detrimental, unless you know you're going for the whole over excessive and no real purpose angle.

Violence doesn't cause controversey around the world, nuditity has it's few problem areas.

In America, guns are great, sex, nudity are just terrible
America the home of pornographic, don't know whether I should laugh or cry.

That's just how we roll. B)

(I blame the Puritans)

In America, there is indeed a double standard. I say show it all. Nipples, heads rolling, limbs cut off. Bioware flaked out with the sex scenes in DA:O - they're just laughable. Do it right or fade to black Bioware, no tighty-whities please.

But isn't it amazing?! In Mass Effect, everybody wants to sleep with you!

Twice!

Except implicit visual sex in video games has already happened like many, many years ago.

And it caused a lot of hatred with people have their heads do 360 turns exorcist style and got the games banned from a few areas.

Okay. I was kinda on your guys' side for a second there. But hold up. Saibh has a good point here.

Some things are unnecessary!

@Games4ever
From your posts I get the distinct impression that you are among the aforementioned group of ignorant people

@Slimgrin.
Show it all? Where do you draw the line? Mutilated corpses? Dead children and babies, caught in the wake of the blight? Rape? Realistic, gorey battles?
Doesnt sound like any video game I want to play.

Oh? Was there any rage for Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy or Max Payne 2? I don't remember any but I could be wrong

For me it really depends on the character you are romancing.

The "love" scenes in Mass Effect were done quite well in my opinion, very obvious what was happening (unlike DA;O where it just looked like a bit of fumbling about) but fairly considerate.

That said, I think the way ME2 works is good too (I haven't romanced Jacob :P). Characters like Miranda (who is all about the sex and sexual attraction) are steamy and suitable whilst characters like Tali are done more sweetly and with much less implied.

Bioware haven't really let me down with romances in games so far. I like how they still include it and make it tie into the story, relationships are a big part of life and why shouldn't these great Roleplaying games allow people to "roleplay" that side of life?

The Max Payne series is legendary and Indigo Prophecy is a cult classic, so yes both were fairly successful and popular.

Most movies that do are tactful. Some deliberately are not. Those who are interested in that sort of thing can go watch that all they want. I think it takes a sadistic sort of person to want to watch, let alone play something like that though.

Games arent movies. Lets stop comparing the two.

The American audiences didn't get the real version of Fahrenheit, they got Indigo Prophecy without sex.

Max Payne 2??? can't remember any sex in that game

They are both a form of media, why must one have limitations while the other does not?
