Morrigan: she was direct, practical and treated sex with indifference (heh, sort of like Jack in ME2). Her love scene should have been more aggressive, rough. It should have felt like she wanted it badly, like she could just take it (I'm being serious, I'm an adult and the game WAS rated M after all...).
Leliana: I think one was supposed to be the "neutral" one, but still something that showed love, not "just another lay". I don't remember if the girl-on-girl was any different than the girl-on-guy.
Alistair: well... what the hell can I say. This man was foremost a virgin (duh, reason enough to make a different scene). He was the kind of guy that didn't treat sex with indifference (as opposed to Morrigan), he wanted to wait until the perfect moment, and HE RESPECTED WOMEN! Well, I'm happy to say that this WAS rectified in a mod by the very talented DahliaLynn. However the others were not.
Zevran: this was the only good one. Zevran's sex scenes were truly SEX scenes. He was the one who mastered pleasuring others in bed, and his sex scenes actually showed that. He was the one who took the lead, because he KNEW he had the most experience, and that was simply great.
In the end what I want most of all is to see the love. If two people are in love, then that love should also be there when they're MAKING LOVE, be them heterosexuals, homosexuals or lesbians. I wanna feel like it meant something. I really care about my companions, after spending hours upon hours of talking with them, I get attached (come on, who doesn't AT LEAST like Alistair). That depends, of course, if the VO is done right - which it was, in DA1.
Now comes the problem: all that caring for companions just wasn't there in ME1 and 2. Why? I'm not sure. For me, it felt like there wasn't enough conversation, like romantic involvements felt rushed and awkward. I was really hoping for more conversation in ME2, especially between male friends. I always thought of Garrus as a friend, maybe even a good friend (or a best friend, really). I was expecting some "guy talk" in ME2. What did I get, 2 (TWO) CONVERSATIONS. That's all... W.T.F?! The second conversations was the only real "friend talk" you could have.
Now before you scream "OFF-TOPIC", the reason I said all that was because we're getting hints that Dragon Age is going Mass Effect style. Personally, I think they're gonna emulate Mass Effect in the Dragon Age universe, and to be honest - I can live with that; but - and yes, there is a butt - I'm concerned about what's gonna happen with the companion system from DA1. It was very flexible, you could start/end a relation at any time, if you wanted to be an a-hole, you could sleep with all possible romantic interests and so on. If they're gonna make DA2 like Mass Effect then you will no longer have the same control over relations.
Now comes the good part (and I must say this is the part that I find most interesting): if the game takes you through 10 years of Hawke's life, then that could mean a lot of GREAT possibilities for romantic involvements. Marriage, children, adultery - I dunno about you, but I'd really want to see such a combo in a game like Dragon Age. It would be a whole other level of role-playing, and not necessarily a bad one.

ME1 did it right by not only shortening the length of the scene (also has the side effect of being more tasteful), but also having the camera more "close-up". This way, you can have your characters naked, but have the camera strategically placed to keep it PG-13. Also, having the camera close-up and using quicker cuts can mitigate the stiff (no pun!) animations.

Why are you worring about this? If you dont like the cheesy romance scenes then why do them.

I don't gets it.
What are you saying? BioWare does the scenes.

Er, weren't they all the same sex scene just with different character models?
Eitherway, the Liara love scene from Mass Effect was perfect and is the gold standard by which all future BioWare games should be judged against.

Guys, I mean, they stand out in camp in this repulsive underwear and fondle each other in with a nice showcase of poor animations and facial expressions. The Mass Effects did it better, but there was still plenty room for improvement.

I would prefer a fade to black then to see a woman straddling another woman as if she was a man again... but I will admit DA:O's sex scenes are great for humor. (Especially if you put R. Kelly music in the background )

Agreed, though I'd rather it just fade to black to be honest, I'm sure it's possible to do well but it's always going to be hit and miss at best.yummysoap wrote...
Dragon Age sex scenes were just awful. I skip them every time now.

Besides, now the PC is voiced they need to leave something about them to the imagination.

Zevran only takes the lead if his partner is an elf. If they're a dwarf or human then Zevran lets them lead.

But the undies have to go. The nookie looks a bit too daft in that respect. Unless dry humping is the pinnacle of romance in Thedas....I dunno, could be. I just agree that angles can still make it tasteful and not "Last Tango in Denerim".

Reading this thread is also entirely optional but you still came in to complain. On that note, playing the game at all is entirely optional but that doesn't mean people shouldn't talk about how to improve it. The sex scenes are a very minor part of the game but there's no point putting them in if they're going to just look cheaply done and rushed out.Gambient wrote...
LOL at everyone complaining about the romance scenes when they were entirely optional.

Edit:Video games are a form of entertainment, like movies and tv shows. Movies and tv show have sex scenes like ME so I do not see why a sex scene like that in a video game would be a problem. I mean ME was rated M right? What was FOX's problem jeez. There my rant is done, sorry I was bored.

I say just go full nudity (males and females)
Oh gawd no!
Im currently playing with the full nudity patch and it looks stupid! Beyond stupid!
Topless nudity is enough, no sense in going porn style (which full on nude genitalia is).
Topless nudity with ME1 (not 2) love scene is the perfect answer for love scenes!
Not so much your enterting the bad taste enviroment but not so little is stupidly insulting!
As usualy in most cases, the perfect fit is somewhere in the middle of the two sides
