Garrus is a huge dork when he's not being Batman. It was very in character.
His taste in music is questionable, though.

Not that I'm suggesting DA2 should go all Witcher, but I really liked those collectable cards. Firstly, they were like erotic art, not character models whose facial expressions and bare shoulders don't really get the right mood across (IMO). Also, The Witcher didn't bother trying to show you a sex scene. Sometimes suggestive is infinitely better. (Especially in a videogame.)
Also, I heard that Geralt is a lot less promiscuous in The Witcher 2. I liked the promiscuity. It went hand in hand with the sterility/sense of desperation thing, for me anyway.
People have mentioned this, and it's a YMMV thing. Personally, I hate it. Hate it. What girl throws her panties at the guy who pointed out a mud puddle or something? It's completely unrealistic, not to mention the utter objectifying nature of it. That women may be "collected". Literally turned into trophies to be counted. It never once came off as "mature" to me (and I'm still playing the game at the moment). It felt like something from a middle schooler's gross little fantasy.

Unfortunatly, even today, a lot of guys still treat the number of women that they sleep with as some sort of trophy. I remeber a party where a number of my friends were comparing the total number of women they had slept with and being disapointed that someone else was so far ahead of them. Not something I was exactly proud of them to say.Saibh wrote...

Less promiscuous? That's disappointing. I agree with you; it seemed part of the whole package. Some of the screenshots I've seen appear to have Triss following him around so I'm worried we'll get saddled with her the whole game.

So how do you like it? I've been thinking of playing it but I kind of got turned off by a youtube someone posted of terrible clunky dialog and reports of bad combat mechanics.

But, for the purposes of this thread, I'll make the point again.
I'd just like the "sex scenes" to be less character models awkwardly bumping pixels and more concept art/video/suggestive. (Like the way the Witcher cards looked, not necessarily quite that promiscuous.)

I'm not very far in it, since I got my copy of NWN a few days after I downloaded it, but so far it's pleasing. Cheesy at times, I'll admit, but a lot of it is likable. As with all PC games, my enjoyment of it is hindered until I can memorize which of the nine hundred buttons does what, so I'm not one to tell you about combat or anything.
Oh, and get the Enhanced Edition--I don't think they even sell the original anymore, but evidently it had a lot of problems in it. The new version fixes a lot--corny dialogue, numerous bugs, constant crashing...I think maybe you saw a version from the earlier copy.

Honestly, Alistair's was really charming and sweet. I loved it. I mean, my tougher characters had problems with the "oh, widdle ole virgin me" face they put on during the scene, but other than that, I really loved it. Leliana and Morrigan's...yeah, I laughed when I saw them.

NWN works so long as you take the proper steps. I am having horrific problems with BGII Throne of Bhaal. I can't get it to work, no way, no how. And it irritates me, since I want to mod the game, and I can't do that until all of the games and their expansions are installed.

I agree, the Dragon Age love scenes was not very well done at all – too much going on. The ones in the first Mass Effect were a lot better – subtlety is the way to go.
I keep saying this on these boards. ME1 did romance scenes better than DA:O or ME2. Way better.

I'm a guy, and I thought the cards were kinda stupid.
I don't so much care about the way it presents women, and don't misinterpret that. I just mean that I didnt see the cards and then say "Oh my god, how dare they disrespect women in such a fashion!" and then proceed charging off to find CD Projekt to challenge them to a duel.
But the cards were just dumb. Something to appeal to pubescent 12 year old boys. I got bored of the witcher and never finished it. The cards were just whatever.
But in a game like dragon age, something as stupid would just detract from the immersion.

They were okay in ME2. Actually I only ever did Miranda's, so I cant speak for the others. Australian accents are freakin hot man. I always joke that I am going to move to australia to find a wife.
But yes.
