Dungeon Siege III will have a stronger story then both TW2 & Fable. Obsidian have better writers then CDP and LH.

Obsidian has their fair share of crap too. Dungeon Siege "although had some fun factor" never was known for it's stellar story telling.

Mask of the Betrayer was their best product in terms of storytelling, sad to see them fall so low. They've gone a long way from developing Planescape Torment (well some of the original crew from Black Isle)

I think Fable III is coming out in October of this year. That's like 4-5 months before DA2. I'll definitely be getting both.

Fable? .... ew.

Witcher 2 looks good, but so far doesn't seem guaranteed to be a commercial success.

The first game was yes but the sequel is confirmed to release on PC, 360 and PS3.

Negative ghost rider... check the witcher forums

Alright must of misread a quote but you can bet it will be coming as releasing just on the PC just isn't feasible anymore because of all the pirates.

WTF does piracy have to do with the current topic???

A lot actually, by rivarly I mean which will sell more and to sell a lot of games you need to release it on multiple platforms and because PC games are so prone to piracy that means sales will take a major hit on that platform because of it.

you a console fanboi? Piracy is relevant on consoles too so please be quiet

Fable 3 is omitting most of the RPG stuff anyway.

Molyneux wants to move it closer to an Action-Adventure. Said so himself.

Also a lot of the same crew from Troika
Games..  Bloodlines was one of my favorite games. Even with it's bugs!
I agree though. MoTB had to be some of their best story telling..

Fable doesn't really have much of a story and yes I agree with you there, but then they have to make sure the rest of the game is stellar and not a buggy mess which sadly seems to be the case with a lot of their games.

I was mostly replying to the fact that you said it wasn't your type of game. I thought you might of thought DS3 was just another H&S. As for Obs Q&A, yeah it's been bad and after Alpha Protocol I think the Obs fanboys can admit it's not just the publishers fault.  Either way, it's a RPG with co-op, on both consoles and PC, with an established fanbase. So it is a rival.

Why do you have to be so belligerent? No, I'm not a 'console fanboi' as you put it, infact all the games registered games to the left are of the PC versions for your information. I was simply stating a well-known fact which has plagued PC gaming for many years, why do you think PC exclusives are rare nowadays? Infact the only games it probably sells more on is RTS and MMORPG games.

You want to see your favourite game companies go under because they haven't sold as many platforms as they have because of pirating? Continue with that attitude.

Guess I'll give it a rent and see how it plays.

Well developed games with loyal fan bases don't need to worry much about piracy, or at least they can still turn a sizable profit. I personally don't know anyone my age that doesn't "demo" before they buy... that being said they all have enough disposable income that they DO go out and support developers that make games they enjoy. The companys that do have to worry about it are the ones that are just trying to exploit people for a quick buck, which is why EA for one has had so much trouble with it.

Witcher doesn't really compete with DA. The only thing I see in common are the words "gritty", "dark" and "(un)mature".

DA is more of an traditional RPG for me, while Witcher is the kind of "personal story of one badass" with role-playing.

My 2 coppers.

The Witcher was an awesome game, well written, dark, engaging, and the second game promises to be more of the same, but better. I will be buying both games, because I don't think I could choose between them.

You make a good point but then that is probably the reason game publishers give for porting the games to a console, poor PC sales.

I don't honestly see that much overlapping between Fable 3 and Dragon Age II's audiences. As for The Witcher 2, while I'm following the game with a lot of interest (since I have more information than Dragon Age II, and it's all very positive, I daresay I'm following it with more interest), I could see it selling well, but not as well as a Bioware RPG, sequel to one of their most successful titles, and very anticipated.

Which one do you think? They'll probably be released in the same time frame (early 2011) so which one do you think will be DA2's main rival? I say The Witcher 2.

Neither. Fable 3 appeals to a much wider demographic and doesn't aim to take Dragon Age's crown. As for Wiedzmin 2? Nope, not a chance. Whilst the first sold (and sells) well, it doesn't reach the numbers Dragon Age has. I've not seen any numbers as such, but I've heard Mass Effect 2 being in the ~3m range, so that would put DA:O perhaps at 4-5m sales, which is around... Well, easily twice the number of sales Wiedzmin 1 ever had.

the only reason consoles are winning the "game war" is because its more profitable (e.g a PC game is £25-£30 and a console game is £40-£50) the PC made games and the devs are taking advantage to make more money! PC gaming is not dead else why would new GPU's come out every 3 months??? I will support the PC for as long as i breath!!!

BACK ON TOPIC PLZ!

Piracy or no, porting games brings more $$$.

Even though Witcher was PC only, it sold really really well (especially for a very small company like CD Projekt). So no, I dont think piracy is a problem as they managed to build quite good and healthy fanbase with The Witcher despite its obvious flaws.

On topic, while I have heard that they have revamped Fable 3 quite a bit compared to 1 and 2, I doubt it will be serious contender with DA2. So I think Witcher 2 will be DA2's main rival. Though that doesnt mean I cannot own both. I am anxiously waiting for both Witcher 2 and DA2. :o

The footage they have released of The Witcher 2 is Alpha build...Alpha build, and it already looks amazing. The Character designs need work, but my god, the environments and lighting are like nothing I have seen in a game. The combat looks better. And they are opening the whole world to you from the beginning, yet still retaining the central story. You can use the new reflex-based combat, or choose an easier automated mode that relies on your stats. It sounds like giving the player plenty of choice and freedom is their top priority.

They are clearly making huge changes to this title. I can't wait.
