Also not a rival. It's marred by the first game having poor reviews and uptake in the RPG community, and the developer isn't aiming for sales numbers to rival Dragon Age. If it's anything like the first game, it'll be more hack 'n' slash-y than in depth party based, but I must confess to not looking into it.Gaxhung wrote...
There is also Two Worlds II - sometime this year, PC and 360

Has multiplayer that some folks like.

Actually, CD Projekt Red has said that they're going to develop and market The Witcher 2 as more action-oriented, and people have already sounded their opinions:Drasill wrote...
Fable 3 is more of an action game so I don't think I'd put it as a competitor.
DA2 will most likely sell better than TW2 but I think TW2 will be the better game as was the case with the first in each series.

Doesn't seem like such a bad direction for a franchise like The Witcher to go. The combat in the first game was nothing to write home to and since the game already focuses on a master swordsman, it's a natural progression. This argument doesn't work for DA2 since we'll be working with much more than one bearded man with a name of a bird.Ecael wrote...

The difference being that The Witcher is based off an existing IP, CDProjekt RED had no previous work for it to be judged by (unlike BioWare with most of their games having no pre-determined-as-such characters) and it would make less sense for the Witcher to not use Geralt as a main character.MaxQuartiroli wrote...
I just find it curious that some people complains for DA2 because it will have a character with a pre-settled background and VA, and therefore claims to play The Witcher 2 which will have.. oh wait... a totally pre-settled character with VA !
What is the difference then.. Ah yes.. the sex cards !!!!! How could I forget this?

I personally think that's an irrelevant distinction. A pre-defined character is a pre-defined character... and Geralt is a lot more defined as a character than any Bioware protagonist.OnlyShallow89 wrote...

DAO set the character creation method for DA franchise.MaxQuartiroli wrote...

The Witcher set the character creation method for TW franchise.
TW2 follows its predecessor, while DA2 breaks it.
Seems cruel to offer one way then go in the complete opposite in the second iteration doesn't it?MaxQuartiroli wrote...

They'll never promise to people they won't ever change..
On the contrary, I remember them saying more than once on this forum that people shouldn't expect the game to remain the same, and so for the story and the characters, they told that Dragon Age was an "open" game for different stories and different settings, therefore I am not disappointed, not even surprised because this game is what they prepared us for..
If people didn't hear them or didn't believe them who is guilty?

Dungeon Siege 3 is nothing like DA2.
You'll be working with a grey-haired man with the name of a noble instead?DeepGray wrote...
