Weapons & Armour in DA2, New classes not needed

Also for armour, I think it'd be interesting to see more customization for it. I saw in ME2 they gave you two patterns and tint 1, 2, and pattern colour options which was a step in the right direction in my opinion, but it was under used with all the dlc armour that was a lot better than what you could buy in stores.
One other thing I have noticed is some people, not a majority, but some have said that three classes isn't really enough (I said it before, but realized how wrong I was). With the specializations and sub-classes in them you really get more than 3 classes you just have to make them, such as archers, defenders, brutes, healers, and such. I know most are aware of this though. What would you like to see as new weapons and armour?

With regard to see new weapons and armor, I think that could be very interesting. Perhaps there could be specializations or talents that focused on specific weapons - so while there is a general set of two handed weapon talents, there could also be talents within the set (or within a specialization set) that focused on two handed axes, for example.

The ME2 armour system isn't really any different from the regular RPG armour system -- it's just the individual items you can pick and which affect appearance of specific area (chest, gauntlets, boots etc) are small variations of single model and texturing scheme, so they blend better into single coherent appearance.Behindyounow wrote...
I'd like an armour system like in ME2 (well, Shepard's one anyway), aslong as there is a lot more options for customisation.
So "ME2 system with more options" is pretty much "typical armour system as done by RPGs for years".

But we're talking about specific games to indicate specific systems. Your need to sound authoritative just made you sound a little douchey.

I'm just pointing out that there is no real functional difference between that specific system you're talking about, and the system DA already has in place. In other words, that request was for something the game already has.BrotherWarth wrote...

And not to act a little douchey, but if you focus more on understanding the message and less on possible intents why it was posted, the discussion generally works better. It also doesn't devolve into pointless personal attacks.

The original post was talking about the way you can choose the colors and textures for your armor in ME2. I think that would be sweet and DA:O definitely did not have that. Textures may make less sense, because a leather boot is just leather, but you could have it polished or worn. Giving the option to choose a primary color and secondary color though and having a random compilation of equipment match better would be appreciated. I sometimes would rather not wear a rope or hat even though they're the best I have, just because they look so dumb in combination with eachother.

Not fond of this idea.

Oh? There was the option to make plate armor green with camo coloring in DA? How do you unlock that without mods, as I never managed to do so.

Color is the only way to tell if your chainmail is veridium or silverite. So no I do not support color changing.
There is another way to determine what material a weapon or armor was made of. Look at its stats. That little pop up window that gives such information like the armor rating, damage a weapon does, and the material it was crafted of.

I meant visually, plus I hate having my armor look the same if it is made of one metal is instead of another. I really liked what Bioware did.

The post i was replying to talked about "armour system" which i've interpreted as reference to the system which allows character to wear a selection of different armour pieces (given Shepard was the only one who was granted this) I overlooked the aspect you speak of, as i tend to think of that as of dye/tint system, i.e. something separate. The tint system in default DA is indeed not under of the player's control, although i'd guess you know just as well as i do that similar functionality is provided through the mods -- you wouldn't have bothered to make that distinction otherwise.Maria Caliban wrote...

Incidentally, this thread is at least 4 months old. My bad for not noticing earlier.

That doesnt apply to armour and weapons of the enemies, though. For these the visuals are pretty much all you have to go by.addiction21 wrote...
