First, DA Origins wasn't THAT customizable. I mean, you get six origins which were all predetermined. Guess what, one sixth of all players out there played through the same thing. You're character isn't that special. You end up a Warden no matter what, you fight the Blight no matter what, you end up saving the world no matter what. Lot of choices there.
Second, I think we forget that there are pros to having a more ME style character as well as cons. Dialogues, for example, make the game a lot more interesting. I don't understand why people prefer one-way conversations over this. How is the NPC talking all the time not awkward for people? The characters and missions would also be better quality, as they don't have to deal with too many scenarios of outcomes.
Third, I think one of the reasons Bioware is one of the best developers is that they take what they do well and keep it but at the same time not being afraid to try something new. I don't see DA2 being ME anytime soon; I see it maybe as a combination. I don't think people are being fair in complaining that Bioware is taking away something great all the damn time. They're not here to cater to you. They are a bunch of guys who have ideas and want to do something with it. If you don't like what they're doing, you have a couple of options: don't buy the game, buy the game, or suck a nut.
***If you want more customization, I got a great game for you, it's called Real Life. Yes, you can customize absolutely anything and everything. There are so many stats: strength, intelligence, willpower, personality, morality, leadership, spirituality, emotional wellbeing, etc, it never ends. You can increase your strength by doing something called "hitting the gym", and you get intelligence by "getting an education". Every day you level up, you get 24 skill points- they call it "hours", and how you spend those hours is up to you. And yes, there is gay sex [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/pinched.png[/smilie] It's the longest RPG you've ever played. Average gameplay takes about 75 years. If you really want to try this, PM me or something, I'll set you up with a free copy.***
Me, I'm gonna give them a chance. If they do well, kudos. If not, I have faith that they've learned from their mistakes.
Anyone?
