How to make textures go on the scalp?

I'm trying to make a new redesign of the burned blind templar at the Denerim alienage and it's ticking me off..because the texture I made won't go on his scalp. Does anyone know a work-around for this?

The scalp is a separate mesh with a separate texture. This tutorial may be of some use to you. Although it is primarily focused on tattoos, the principles are the same.
