I will wait and see. There is a significant chance I won't buy Dragon Age if it turns out to be Mass Effect 2 in not space.

And I mean if it turns out that way not in a good way.

(AKA: No inventory, story essentially boils down to gathering ****loads of followers, panders to FPS and TPS fans, completely removes everything players complain about rather than fixing them.)

I have some significant concerns. There is a chance I will not buy DA2.

I am worried that Dragon Age II will become more Mass Effect than a proper sequel to the game I loved. At this point, though, it's still a wait and see.

Why is there never an option that covers my position?

I do have some fairly significant concerns, but I'm going to preorder it as soon as it becomes available... because I trust bioware to make a game that I will enjoy, even if it doesn't live up to the expectations that I have developed for Dragon Age.

I will buy it. Bioware have never made a game that wasn't good, so why would they start making bad games now?

Honestly I wanted to make only a two option poll, buy or not buy but then the complaining about lack of choices would've been even worse.;)

HELL YES!

It's a BioWare game. That's enough for me. Besides, from what very very very little I've heard from this game it sounds great!

Unless I'm penniless and living on the street, I'm buying it. Don't get me wrong, if it's more like ME2 than DA:O, I'll be sorely disappointed. But I loved every minute of ME2 and if it's even half as good as that, I'll enjoy it and it will be worth the money.

DA 2 Purchase Poll!

Considering all the noise on the forums I'd be interested in some numbers on how the matter rests at this moment even if they do have some audience bias it should be a little better than just outright claiming your position is the most populous, Please vote in the above poll and discuss here if you wish

Dragon Age Two - Concerns and the likelyhood of purchase.

How concerned are you about the various aspects of Dragon Age 2 and how will these affect they likelyhood of purchasing the came. I know some things can not be known at this time, just take the most likely outcome.

I'm not worried at all. I will/have pre-ordered DA2

I have a few, very minor concerns, I will  almost certainly pre-order/buy DA2 or buy it used/discounted.

I have some significant concerns. There is a chance I will not buy DA2.

I have many major concerns, I will likely not  buy DA2 unless my concerns are addressed.

I not even know where to start there is no way Iwill buy DA2!

my concerns are minor, but i'll be pre-ordering it soon. i trust bioware when it comes to making rpgs.

I am old enough, sadly, to remember Blizzard's boards being the exact same about a game. That game was StarCraft and the people were all flaming Blizzard for making "WarCraft in Space" instead of just continuing WarCraft.

That argument is also still being used with StarCraft 2 were fans are shouting that it's too much like WarCraft 3 and World of WarCraft.

The moral to the story? Trust that the people making the game are intelligent enough to tell more than one story. The reason BioWare's even doing this is to make franchises. They want them to be different and to last. If they wanted another Mass Effect they'd break a group off and make another Mass Effect game that didn't center on Shepard.

Stop feeling so entitled. It's their game not your's.

My theory is that it's a BioWare game and BioWare hasn't let me down yet. I've been lulled into a dangerous sense of trust.

Basically what my reasoning boils down to.  I haven't liked every choice Bioware has made....but then who has? I doubt even the developers are happy with every choice that has been made in the past.  It's simply not a reasonable, sane expectation.  I feel cofident enough in Bioware's abilities to say I know that I will buy and enjoy DA2.  To what degree I will have to wait and see when it's installed on my computer and I fire up the game.

I think it will be the same as the first one for me. Was not sure if I would get it but in the end I decided to give it a try. The difference being I am the only person they did not like what they did with ME2 and hearing they maybe doing something similer not all that sure right now.

The big difference being DA was never about one chacter and there story so may be easier to go in a different direction. Though I was hopeing they would expand on a romance sup blot in one of there games on day if they are going to keep putting them in the games. Was hopeing for that in ME2 and got cheesy b movie porn instead while the first love intrests were doing there hair :P.

Oh when I say romance I would like to add I do nto mean sex I mean romance. I have to say as it stands I need more info but right now I will have to say no on DA2. Given I have no desire to get ME3 if it is nothing but a ME clone with swords I will say no. Even though I play it on the console I hope they design it for the PC like the first one. Hell if the story sounds intresting I may get it but again got to wait. If I must be honest I am indifferent and really come here out of habit :P

Well up to almost 400 votes now and the results have remained largely the same.  Basically have 10%~ that say they have an really good chance of not buying the game because of the changes and concerns.  Honestly I'm reminded of this screenshot.  70% that are pretty much sure to purchase and play the game, no surprises there for me.  It would remain to see how the 20% 'fence-sitters' split.  If they split evenly into did and didn't buy teams you still have 4/5 respondents buying the game.  Hardly a mass exodus and vote of no confidence in Bioware.

I'll certainly buy it, unless something really starts to stink up once the promo stuff hits high gear. So far, DA2 might just squeeze in front of even Civ5 for me!

I started playing DAO again and boy, it's good as ever. Perhaps the best set of main characters in Bioware game yet, and the same writers are returning! I'm thinking of buying Awakenings to tide me over, tho I've read really mixed stuff about it...

I'd be worried if Mac Walters was replacing Gaider as the lead writer... Image IPB

I've got a lot of doubts at the moment, from what we've been told so far. The dialogue wheel system sounds awful, especially if they combine it with the Awakenings way of conversation. I genuinely despise the idea of playing a set character Hawke, and combined with the awful answers given in the GI article then they really do seem to be turning this into Dragon Effect 2. As I hated ME2 and thought it was a superficial shooter with RPG elements tacked on then that's obviously a problem for me.

Also, Bioware have burned a lot of customer goodwill and credibility recently - the hordes of buggy below par DLC for DA. Awakenings been a vastly over-priced bug fest with a horrible conversation system, and also their incredibly abysmal performance in rectifying these bugs in a timely manner. This makes me wonder what happened since DA:O release, maybe EA putting too much pressure for releases too soon, who knows, but quality has really taken a nosedive.

Also, and it may be my imagination, but this seems an awfully quick release for a fully fledged sequel, which makes me wonder about the quality and bug testing we'll get.

My final concern is game length - I distinctly remember, on a thread regarding a voiced protagonist on the DA forums that a dev stated in response to the question of why there was no voiced character that the game length would need to be halved to do that.

As one of the Devs (Rob Bartel?) stated recently that DA was their best selling game then to me that suggests gamers have been crying out for the more traditional type of RPG that DA:O was, so I can't understand why these radical sounding design shifts.

WOW, what a great post and your so right, I hadnt even thought of game lenght cause of main character VO!

I remember that quote as well from the first one
First one was excellent in lenght, if it gets halved, thats just even more unacceptable practice!

LOTS of questions need to be answered!

Hey, they were one of the first to give a accurate and honest reveiw of ME2 so their freelance writers that cover gaming have earned some good will and credibility!

I already decided to buy Brink (an fps) instead of this game. Its sad but I will actually get to choose everything about and play a character that will be MINE in Brink. So good luck Bioware with your non-rpg rpg.

I'll buy it. BioWare is the only developer who puts out the games I really like to play. Even the ending (HA will never forget or forgive completely) of DA, didn't totally kill my love. Just bruised it.

As mentioned by others I'm not exactly a rich gamer myself so I'm already thinking about socking money away/paying off a credit card and keeping the money in reserve to buy the ultimate collectors edition as soon as it is announced.

what about "i have major concerns but will definitely preorder"?

"I have some significant concerns. There is a chance I will not buy DA2." will have to do.

of course the game will be good and enjoyable. I just probably won't like it as much as Dragon Age and will probably like it for different reasons.
