I'm trying to insert a custom crust VFX to an actor, which works perfectly in the game. For some reason there's no "actor field" in the vfx properties in the cutscene editor. It's not really important that it's attached to the actor (if it works without), I just need the VFX being visible. Right now it won't play at all (which I guess is due to no actor).

Any ideas? Anyone else tried to implement custom VFX to cutscenes?

I have had the same problem. I'll make a link to some of the solutions I've tried (none work, so far). What all have you tried?

When I have encountered recently this problem I found only this old thread mentioning it. I will probably not be the first who has succesfully gotten a custom crust effect to work in a cutscene. But I would like to give my 5 cents to this.

Now, here is what I have done to get  the custom crust effect to work in a cutscene:

1. I have added a new line for the custom crust effect in the vfx_base.xls.
(Copy & paste a line of a similiar effect and adjust it)
2. After the compilation of the gda I have inserted the new effect by right click in a viewport.
3. The actor field should be then available in the object inspector.

4. Optional: The actor field will vanish again after an adjustment of the custom crust effect in the vfx editor.
To bring it back a forced refresh (F5) will not be sufficient. There will be probably other ways to tackle this because I suppose it is related to the order of the override folders.
Restarting the toolset after an adjustment worked well for me to get back the actor field and redefine the crust target.

BTW, anyone who knows what F, T or D as type description in the wiki on the vfx_base.xls shall mean?
(The sheet itself is more informative than this page...)
