Maybe you didn't know but console is actually invisible in game. You have to type commands and see if the white text appears in upper part of the screen, you wont see what exactly you are typing though.

Try:  "-enabledeveloperconsole" instead of just -enabledeveloperconsole

I've gor everything setup and I still can't use the console. I assigned the letter X. But when I try typa in the code nothing happens. I know you don't see anything but I get the map poping up when I hit m.I hope someone will have an idea.

the console is not visible. if you press ~ and seemingly loose keyboard control (as in C doesn't open character, P doesn't open skills, etc.) then the console is activated.

You probably put the command line switch on the shortcut to the launcher app and not the game executable itself. Go back and follow directions to the letter.

No C opens character. I right clicked on my desktop shortcut and thats where I added

-enabledeveloperconsole. I hit apply and it took. I went back in and assigned ~ but it still won't open the console. Did I do something wrong?

I'm trying to use the "developer console" but I can't create a shortcut for Dragon Age, at all. This seemed like the best place to get help, please reply.

rightclick on your desktop -> New -> shortcut -> browse to the executable -> add -enabledeveloperconsole to the path (which should be between ")

For example if you are using steam under Windows XP you'd do this:

"C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age origins\\bin_ship\\DAOrigins.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole

You got the wrong exe file.
You need the one in the bin_ship folder. Make a shortcut on your desktop for that exe file, not the other exe file.
For me the destination of the shortcut looks like this:
"C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age\\bin_ship\\daorigins.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole

Also remember that if you turn on developer console, your profile stops updating until you turn it off again.

guys,it works...u perform these steps
1.add the command line parameter -enabledeveloperconsole
(note-u should enter it only to the target of the shortcut to the file "daorigins.exe".
for that take the shortcut properties.in the target followed by a space after the original target thts already presnt.)
2.after tht open the loication C:\\Users\\Roshan\\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Settings
in this open the keybindings.txt file.
3.find the line OpenConsole_0=Keyboard::Button_Grave
replace the grave and enter any button tht u hv nt used in ur game
4.save it.
5.run the game using the shortcut
6.hit the button u assigned substituting the "grave"
7.type any of ur cheats and press enter..
8.dnt worry,ur cheat wil work if entered correctly.
9.note tht the console is invisible.

hv a grt day guys...

The advice is three years old. You can't expect the author to still be hanging around. Although the old threads should automatically become locked after a month or so, they don't do that here. You have to pay better attention to choose newer threads from among those that a decent Search finds. And you should totally ignore the foolish and broken file finder offered here on site.
