So obviously, you can only be human in DA2. Chances are Bioware didn't decide to do this just to ****** off a fair number of the fanbase, but because it would enhance this particular game somehow, or just did not fit in with the story.

So I'm just wondering whether you would want to see other races such as Dwarves and Elves playable again in future games, or whether you would be happy to stick with humans.

I personally want them back, but YMMV.

Yes, the Dragon Age universe definitely needs more races.

Yes, I want to choose my race in future games. They can have this one. But after they're done with this human only game I'd prefer they go back to letting us choose our race.

Yes, I'd like to be able to play as Dwarves or Elves in future games. I won't care that much if I can't, though. I'm never been one to really care. As for other races...I tend to think we have enough.

Of course we want them back. When I first heard of DA2 I actually expected MORE races, like the Qunari, not drastically less.

I think they are trying to make Hawke to DA like Shepard is to ME...so I doubt it.

If they do they make it like Mass Effect I think that will pretty much completly kill the series for fans of the original game. But they're claiming not to be doing that. But a lot of people are worried that it will turn out like Mass Effect.

I think people are getting too concerned over Hawke, as much as I hate the fact that we can only have him be human.

Hawke appears to be (at this stage) a voiced pc that we can still see as ourselves for those of us who like to roleplay, in a way. Imagine if you could only be human in DA:O, Bioware would be referring to the Warden as "Cousland." I'm pretty sure that in the same way, we'll still be able to build him up from nothing, and we won't see him in DA3. Mind you, this is speculation.

That's so abhorrent to think about.

If I wanted to play Mass Effect, I'd be playing Mass Effect, not Dragon Age.

God what a frightful thing. Hopefully this little experiment will die after this game.

Well, they didn't have a choice it they wanted to make it more cinematic.

Different sized characters completely **** up the cinematic animation where characters interact with other characters and other items.

Well, I can understand limiting choice in one game in order for it to impact future games. Kind of like having a solid history and such. Also, while I'm a tad disappointed that ME is bleeding in DA a bit (love both games, but I liked that they were different), I enjoy the story more than anything and if the story is better for it, then I'm okay with it.

I'm actually more disappointed with the lacking of backgrounds/origins rather than the lack of species to choose from. Still sounds fun to me, Free Marches was third in my list of where I would like to see next, Tevinter and Nevarra being first and second.

I'm hoping for a return of races and origins in future games. Once this ones over hopefully we might have an actual proper sequel to look forward to that has these features.

It's true. Dwarves don't frame too well and this ruins the cinematicyness.

I will state this very easily. They could use the same voice actors for different races with the hawke character. All they would have to do is change the pitch and tone of the character to soot the needs of the race. Low for dwarf and high for elf. Doh! I think I'm on to something. I just don't think they wanted Hawke to be developed and recognized as different race by other NPCs. I think that would have risen the cost. If Bioware is willing to state that I'm might back off.

I have a theory that DA:O was nothing but a teaser for what is to come (hence the name "Origins"). All you get is a taste of the world and how the different races/classes differ and interact with each other. Heck you even run around paying every single race a visit in their natural environment in that game.

With the future games I suspect we will see every game focusing on one origin each. When the series is finished sometime in the far-away future you will have a set of games that when combined makes an enormous and way more in depth version of the original DA:O.

A few possible plot lines for future sequels could for example be...
Dwarf - Restoring the Deeproad
Elf - Finding Arlathan
Mage - Crushing/claiming Tevinter
Qunari - Invading Thedas

If this theory were to be true you can all rest asured that you're getting what you ask for, but at a much greater scale. So please don't be such haters of the "one race approach", just yet at least. Let's wait...
