1) Decent encounter design.

2) More tactical variety. Non-magic combo are already a step in the right direction.

3) Better structured side quests. Get rid of the awful fetch quest, get rid of the chantry boards, and instead focus on less but more meaty side quests.

4) A shorter game. I know, someone probably will jump on my throat, accuse me of lacking attention span, or of sacrificing puppies to a volcano god but.. the reality is that Dragon Age didn't really need to be that long. There wasn't enough material to keep it interesting, and in some areas like the Deep Roads or the final dungeons, I just felt like the designers were getting bored themselves and were simply throwing the same encounter over and over and over. That's not good design. Not at all.

5) A less cliché plot. Considering the very little information we've got now, it looks like, while there is a rather big tradeoff (less customization) Bioware has got its bases covered on this one.

I wish time was measured (like it was in BG) in DAO time is never an issue because it's an unlimited commodity hence there is no sense of urgency (even in quests which should be time limited).

Also I'd like more grey area in quests, i.e. moral ambiguity is great and some parts of DAO really hit the nail on the head but I'm thinking of one quest in particular which is only a moral dilemma in your first playthrough (when you realize that time is not an issue you're free to wander around and pick the "best" solution).

Also I'm not a big fan of specializations that remain unlocked. Specializations should reflect what a given character has done and not what other playthroughs were about (picking Reaver with a goody two shoes shouldn't be a possibility for instance). I have fond memories of playing Might and Magic VI, in that old game finding a master who would teach you a certain degree of expertise was a quest in itself (and often it would include doing things that justify receiving this particular training). I think that DAO was on the right track with the Blood Mage and the Reaver specializations for instance but that the fact that specializations remained unlocked messed up a very good idea.

Long sword skill tree.
Chimera.
Flowing hair/clothes.
Cloaks.
More exploration. IE wending wood/Kokari wilds.
Cities that feel more alive but aren't significantly smaller (See the citadel in ME2.)
Better combat animations.
The ability to bring four people with instead of three. I hated having to choose between an extra tank or a rogue.
Hats for mages that aren't designed by the weirdest gayest men in the world.
Counter attacks.
Same level system.
Same inventory.
The choice between hip sheaths and back sheaths.
Sheaths.
Better camp animations
Everyone not being in their armor at camp.
Keep the approval system it makes it feel more real. In ME2 you can do pretty much anything with anyone in the party and they won't have a problem with it. It's dumb.
More dialog. And a hybrid system of DAAs' clickable objects. DAOs' approval unlocking dialog. And MEs' unlocking dialog after missions.
Get rid of gifts, it's way to easy to get someones approval up with them. But keep personal gift's IE Alistairs mothers amulet, Andraste's grace, Flemeth's Grimoire.
More hotkeys for console players.
Keep the modablity for PC.
Sun glasses so I can tell people to deal with it more effectivly.

I want less dependance on the tank/damage/healer system. It has been done to death.

(Edit) Also i want some open areas. One thing that was a flaw in DA:O in my opinion was that pretty much all areas except for hub areas were these cramped little dungeons.

1. What I really want is bigger maps and more freedom in DA2. Not so much that it's like a Bethesda game, but big enough so that you don't feel enclosed in. For example, the Dalish Camp was too small. You should have been able to travel a bit outside of the camp.
2. More variety between specializations.
3. Diverse Armors. No more ugly mage hats please...

I agree with you on all points, but especially on number 3.  All the armor in each category were simply re-colored versions of eachother.  Hardly any variety.

One thing I want to stay is the "stubble" system in character creation, but it would be awesome if there was a possibility to make it longer.  I wanted a beard like Duncan but it wasn't really possible.

I would also like a little more control during combat.

I mentioned in an earlier post the ability to deselect all enemies from being targetted during combat.

Being able to choose to hit high centre or low would be nice, as well as being able to choose the direction of the swing, left, right, overhand, or thrust would be fantastic, but I'm probably dreaming.

In Origins, the character would sometimes make an overhand attack, sometimes swing from the left or right etc. but so far I haven't been able to find a way to consistently trigger the type of attack I want using the mouse buttons, position of the PC, and clicking on various positions of the enemy and the red circle. Basically, that's all that I could think of to try in DA:O.

Nothing seemed to consistently work and after a few hours I gave up, but if there is one thing they put into DA2 I hope it's more melee control.

I recently downloaded the trial of the Conan mmorpg and though I haven't played it much, it seems to have already implemented more melee control than DA:O, although what I saw of the animations were no comparison.

I like to play as a 2H warrior, and if DA2 has more melee control it'll be a winner in my book.

I've already decided that I'm going to buy the game because I buy all the games in a franchise if I like the first one, and I really liked DA:O even though it lacked as much melee control as I would have liked, but if Bioware can implement something like this I'll count the game as a winner rather than just part of the franchise.

1. Better, more realistic looking combat. More like God of War. Be nice if you could switch back to a tactical mode like Origins, but I'd be fine if they didn't.

2. Better graphics.

3. Voiced main character.

4. More advanced options in character creation menu at the beginning. More than once choice for the PC voice.

5. Though sex should be an option, I don't want every relationship to be totally defined by it. And hell yes, keep the same-sex romance option. Having that option is awesome.

6. I don't want every party member to be completely defined by the PC's relationship to them. I want more interesting stories to be happening with my party members, and between the party members, that have nothing to do with me whatsoever. It's more realistic.

7. As much player choice as possible, but each outcome should still make for a good story.

8. A very long and fully orchestral music score.

9. More variety in just about everything. In Origins it looked like every character was created with the Character Creation menu used to create the PC. Even the party members. There needs to be a lot more completely unique models and objects.

10. I can't really think of a 10th one. Just anything that would add to the believability of the experience and make it feel more like I really am the player character and that the world I'm exploring is real. Maybe more consequences for my actions.

One thing about music, the option to turn off battle music would be awesome. I don't know about you guys but I get tired of hearing it all the time.

That's because they don't have enough original music, so it gets repeated too much. And though I liked much of the music in the game, a lot of that battle music wasn't that great anyway.

But regardless, that option couldn't be that hard to implement anyway. So why not?

I was thinking about this recently, and I was thinking back to how cool it was in BG2 where you could see from an early point in the game, what some of the best weapons and armors were, and how much they would cost. Of course there were other special weapons/armor you could only get by obtaining certain items and having someone craft them, but it was really cool how we knew what most of the 'ultimate' items were, and where to get them. I want the really bigtime items to be, and to feel, special. I want to hear people talking about the best sword that was ever made, I want to feel like getting it is a big deal, and once I save up enough gold or get whatever items I need, and I get that sword, I want it to be a really big deal. I want to hear some peope comment on it, like 'wow, I never thought I'd see somebody weilding that sword in my lifetime', something like that. Stuff like that would be really cool, that's something that's mostly missing in DAO, at least from my experience anyway. The closest DAO comes to that is the dragon armor stuff, that's pretty cool.

Also, while on the subject of armor, I'd like it to be much cooler looking. Morrigan's robe was the only really cool looking outfit in the game. Why can't fighters/rogues dress like Morrigan? I understand the desire to keep 'Chainmail Bikini' type items to a minimum, to heighten realism, but if there arent ANY thats way worse than too many. Give us more choice on that.

Also, I'd like the ability to customize the color of my team's outfits. Maybe I want them to be all one color, maybe I want certain characters to wear certain colors, whatever, I'd like that option. Having the right color to an outfit can make ALL the difference, so having the ability to choose that color would be a huge plus.

I second everybody else who said more hair styles and colors, there's certainly room for improvement there. Also, more romance options. Morrigan and Leliana were great, but with so many great characters to potentially choose from why are we limited to just two? And worse still, if you aren't playing in the PC and you're playing as a female character you don't even have Morrigan as an option, so the XBox 360/PS3 female character players only have ONE to choose from. I'd double the female romancable characters, and with four good women to choose from I could see making one available to women only and one to men only.

While I'm on the subject, we need a marriage option. Sex isn't important, of course when they do a love scene right like in ME its cool and all, but that isn't the important part of the romance, its about the love, and ultimately that should mean marriage, especially if the game is going over a 10 year period, you shouldn't even have to wait til the end of the game to marry the character of your choice. Obviously the DA folks didn't know how to do a love scene anyway, so I'd say just leave that bland and vanilla (something they'll probably do anyway), let the modding folks focus on that all they want, while the DA folks focus on what's more important, the wedding scene.

So cooler/more important high level weapons/armor, more/better romance options, better armor/hair options, that pretty much covers it for me :) . I'm glad that they're giving us voice this time, that would've been something I would've wanted to, but we already know we're getting that, so yay :) . Same for the improved graphics, it's fantastic news. DA2 is sounding pretty good so far. Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good!

- I'm really hoping for Witcher-style non-linear storytelling. No other elements of TW, please, the gameplay was horrible (and the game was horribly sexist) -- but if our choices actually send the story down different paths, instead of basically the same story with a few substitutions and a different epilogue, DA2 has the potential to be amazing (plus loads of replay value!)
- More same-sex romance. And please, more SANE female LIs! I liked Leliana and Morrigan as characters, I just didn't really want to romance them.
- Improved approval system. Maybe scrap presents altogether, except for the dialogue-triggering 'special' ones, so a character's approval of you is better linked to your character.
- Have the future development of a relationship (romantic or otherwise) depend more on past choices about how to treat that character. So for example, mocking Alistair for grieving over Duncan should mean romancing him is ruled out (bar some serious back-peddling and apology, at least!).
- Related to the above two point, romance needs fixing -- it was silly that in DA:O you could get to +100 approval with a character without ever hinting at a relationship, flirt with them once, then have them fall in love with you and start talking as if the relationship had been going for ages. Maybe decoupling romance from approval a little (although obviously the two would have to be linked in some way)
- Finally, more interesting fights. No more wave after wave of deepstalkers, please :)

Edit: Actually, let me add to this. I'd also like quite a long game. Shorter than Origins is fine, if 'shorter than Origins' means cutting out the interminable dungeon-crawling in some parts of the game.  I'd like to see as much, if not more, story and character development, though. 'As short as Mass Effect' would make me sad -- I loved both the games, but compared to DA:O they were lacking in these things.

From reading the various threads on this forum, it seems that the thing most wanted by people is a toggle. Toggle the dialogue wheel on and off, toggle the voiced protagonist on and off, toggle the romances, toggle the name Hawke, presumably toggling clothes for female characters would also gain some support. Soooo. Some kind of universal toggle, please Bioware thanks so much.

Rogue armour. Lots and lots of rogue armour.

I'm currently rocking about a half dozen sets of plate armour, and to get rogue sets I had to download them.

All we want is something black and spiky.

Oh and less stupid looking helments for the leather armour sets.

, but with a ton more options.

.

No way!

More Armour Models

More Weapon Models

A really cool Arena/Gladitorial ring

More gore, choping off limbs (disable it if you dont like it)

A main story mission where you have to full assassinate someone.

Better, more meaningful romances, i dont mean sex but more dialogue and talking for the romance (and then a better sex scene, like ME 1).
