Thermal clips for bows and staffs?

I mean, a staff would build up heat if you throw out fire all the time, right?

Not if they were magic thermal clips.

Short answer: no.

Slightly linger answer: there are some stylistic aspects I wouldn't mind, but not necessarily want. In terms of the combat mechanics I don't want to see anything even remotely ME1/2.

agreed. Btw why did u hate jacob's mission so much ? :D

eh i just thought it was stupid. Not to mention the continuity problem with all of the weapons on planet using thermal clips.
Mostly I just thought it was stupid though.
Jacob: "We have to go fin my dad! OMG MY DAD MIGHT BE ALIVE! Shepard we HAVE TO GO FIND HIM"
-15 minutes later-
Shepard: "Dude. You're dad is an a**hole."
Jacob: "I know right. geez... ok lets go."

It reminded me a bit of...
Alistair: "Can we go find my sister!? Pleeeeeease she's all I have left!"
-15 minutes later-
Warden: "Dude. You're sister is kind of a b*tch"
Alistair: "She kind of is. oh well... ok lets go"

More tech? Um, perhaps you haven't played Dragon Age ever... it's a game with swords and magic, not lasers and rockets.

Same armor system as ME2? Uh, enjoy your limited armor options.

Helm hide? If the game is anything like Origin's inventory system, then you have an option: Helmet or no. Besides, in Origins, it removes your helmet during most cinematics.

Which is rubbish. I want a helmet toggle so that I can keep my helmet on during cutscenes and conversations.

You've convinced me. Let's just put helmets on everything, no need to see faces. We're cutting out character selection, adding a dialog wheel with color coated options to help the kiddies who shouldn't be playing the game in the first place understand what they're saying, let's just get rid of emotion altogether. Get the guy who VA's the Elcor and let him have at it.

While we're at it, let's add thermal clips.

Uh... whats so wrong with wanting to keep helmets on? I just find it damn stupid that someone would take their helmet off in the middle of a battlefield just to show off their expressions whilst they're talking.

I see some trolls have wandered in.

Well getting back to what I want in DA2 from ME...

I would not mind adding new races that look exactly like some in ME.

As for more tech.Would like to see the qunari cannons...maybe even a pistol.

Rockets on arrows?

I would, actually.  I got so freaking fed up with the crap inventory system in the first Mass Effect game that I cheat coded myself level ten versions of the starter armor for each character, level ten guns and mods, then just melted everything I looted.  I buy games to play them.  If I wanted to spend time sorting a closet, I'd sort mine, so at least I'd have something to show for it.

I have no idea why people don't consider something an RPG unless their character can hump around a "backpack" filled with dozens of suits of plate armor, hundreds of weapons, and the odd horse.

The armor system in ME2 was so much better than DA:O or ME, it's not even funny.  I really hope they keep it for ME3

Maybe set your morals at the start of the game then give us a morality meter depending on our views on what is good and bad?

I think DA2 needs a minigame where slowly scan over a weathered map and mine various minerals.  The pointer could be a dwarf and pickax that hums as you scan the map.

Or not.

What I don't want from Mass is the paragon/renegade system and the different style of combat.  (I like Mass Effect 2.  Those are just some things that wouldn't work for DA.)

What can DA take from ME and ME2?

Character Quests
Well, the loyalty quests in ME2 are for the most part better than DA's character quests.  What do I mean?  In terms of moral dilemmas that have shaped a character, Mordin's quest is, I think, better than anything you get in Dragon Age.  You get a revelation about his past.  You get his justifications.  The game doesn't make it look like an easy decision.  He's in a kind of denial despite how clearly he reasons through things.  He's conflicted over his past student.  And he doesn't even come to some happy conclusion as a result of the mission.  So that's a great example of how to deepen a character through a sidequest.  Other ones that stand out are Thane, Garrus and Samara.  Why?  Because they're not conventional shooter gameplay.  The Samara sidequest is mostly a bunch of talking at a club, and that makes it great.  I'm all for conversation-intensive quests.  Dragon Age has moments like that, and I'd like to see them continue that kind of gameplay in DA2.  It doesn't always have to be action.  After all, Camp was probably my favorite setting in Dragon Age: Origins.

Reseach
I like the research in Mass Effect 2.  Not every item has to be found on some enemy's dead body.  The idea of attaining plans or recipes and having a blacksmith able to craft them for your party would be an additional way to attain items.  There's a little bit of that in Dragon Age already with the items that you have to assemble parts for.  In general though, making research and crafting as much a part of character equipment as looting is I think pretty cool.

Armor Appearance
Do I want my characters to look good or to have a very customizable appearance.  Honestly, I want the items to be upgradable and affect gameplay without my character having to look stupid as a result of the item I just equipped.  You know, all hail the fluffy pink hat of mage doom.  No.  I like that the gear being worn in Mass 2 generally looked better in Mass 2 than in Dragon Age.  And the characters that had their own outfits like Morrigan generally looked better than those that didn't.  Quite a lot of gamers didn't upgrade Morrigan's starter robes until they got the Robes of Possession simply because they didn't want to bearing wearing generic mage outfit #5.  So I think designing distinctive looks for the companions and maybe having multiple items basically keep that look would probably be an improvement over the current system.

ME1 type romances. But everything else should stay in ME where it belongs.

I'd like some spells similar to biotic abilities. It would be fun using pull, throw, shockwave, and slam on enemies and watching them fly.

And renegade/paragon conversation interrupts.

The Qunari are supposed to have cannons and other gunpowder weapons, so simple guns might make an appearance at some point.

But, please, no WoW-style airplanes, helicopters, and motorcycles ... don't go all Shadowrun ... please.

I don't know why people diss Mass Effect. It has a metacritic score of 96, a whole ten points higher than Dragon Age! ME2 is an easy contender for multiple GOTY awards.

NOOOOO!  I really hope they don't do that. I want to be able to collect loot and sell extara stuff.  I kind of hated how few equiptment options there were in ME2.  I want to be able to choose exactly what every party member is wearing as well.

Interrupts, better love scenes, better 'loyalty' quests, or at least something that characterized the characters, more cinematic, better graphics, and I like how they scanned a VA's face in ME2, that was pretty neat (probably because I'm a major Chuck fan, too, but yeah).

Personally I could do without the morality meter. Having no morality system in DA felt.. liberating.

Agreed!! As much as i love ME, I don't like having my decisions influenced so much by whether or not im going to get renegade or paragon points.

also.  i hope they don't do the dialogue wheel.  i want to be able to see exactly what im going to say before I make the character say it.  They could keep the system from DA:O and stil have voiced dialogue for the player, just like in the witcher.
