 ***SPOILER****

Everyone from Orlais in the game speaks with a French accent.

Those from Antiva speak with a Spanish accent...

Then why Zevran's best buddy Talisen has no Spanish accent whatsoever? Being a Crow from Antiva...

I think it sounded more russian or something. Talisen didn't sound like Zevran at all lol.

I know a lot of people from Spain that don't have a Spanish accent. Not so strange. >_>

Yes, but in the game (1) they make accent a part of submersion; (2) Talisen definitely has one, but definitely not Spanish, and not Russian, as far as I can tell...

Anyone has any ideas?

Different section of Antiva? Like West Coast vs Southern American accents?

I think I got it.

The Bioware team made Talisen speak plain English just for contrast with Zevran. Ruins the immersion but brings out the puss-in-boots :)

The leader of the Crow side quest seems to have an unusual accent, as I recall. Perhaps this is the Russian already mentioned?

There were a couple Antivans without noticeable accents, such as the Noble Human Warden's sister-in-law. Though there's no canon reason for this, some speculate (Thedas-wise) that it may be because those have been away from Antiva the longest (such as Oriana) or are not originally from Antiva, and so either lost their accent or never had one to begin with.

The sister-in-law definitely had an accent, imho. Not a very pronounced one, but nonetheless.
As to Talisen, he sounds to me more like cockney (Scottish? Irish?) or some such (hey British people out there, please help!)
Russian sounds harsher and more... guttural? (for lack of better word) Also, Russians tend to swallow or mispronounce vowels, but Talisen's vowels were well-defined and somehow "rounded"...

Hmmm, cannot say. I played Awakening just once and then gave it to my cousin. Didn't grab me.

Actually, I always thought Antiva was relating it's accents to Italy. Perhaps Spanish would be right though, now that I think of it. I wonder what Anderfels and Free Marches would be like.

Probably Russian for the Anderfels and "American" or a mixture of people for Free Marches

Choice american
- Canda accent
- Grigoland accent ( choice region )
- Mexican Accent ( Chilango, norteño,  sureño, provinciano... )
-  Venezuela...
- Brasil.y  / URuguay / any non-spanish accent ...

Which is the problem if one guy from a nation don't have the typical accent?    I never have been more of  3 months away from my country and i never have been able to use the same accent as my friends....

There is no problem, it's just picky-choosy me, for when I played the game it struck me as odd that buddies from the same place, who have lots in common, speak so differently.

As for me, I need barely a week to pick up an accent (on the other hand, I'm a musician and hear these things on the spot)

To be honest, while Zevran does remind me of Puss in Boots from Shrek, his accent isn't even Spanish, it sounds more Italian. Now I'm no expert, but I live right next to Spain and I've been there and around the "closer" parts of Europe a couple times, so yeah, to me, that sounds more like Italian. With a little Russian thrown in, it throws me off sometimes.

And I suppose (though I don't know how much that works for Taliesin in particular) people who spend a long time away from their original countries start to lose their accent. Duncan apparently did!
