we all know that Maric had a bastard child with Fiona (I think it was implied that was Alistair was Fionas Son) and there was a rumour that he possibly had another with Flemeth. (In the Stolen Throne he meets a witch and he promises her something that is unknown to the reader...Perhaps to impreganate her so he can push out the Orlesians). I don't know its a long shot, it really is but I wouldn't put anything past Bioware. Since George R R Martin was such a fan of having bastard children in his books and since DAO borrowed from his ideas it seems quite likely. Additionally I doubt Hawke is just an average man/women. He could be but It's be pretty awesome is he has an interesting backstory and he ends up discovering more things about himself along the way. He could be a commoner and bearing in mind I have no facts. This is just speculation with little basis but I would be surprised if he was just from a "Normal" family. Maric was from what I can see a bit of a "player". I wouldn't be surprised if he has children dotted all over Thedas.
